Thank you to all that responded to my question about chemo, it helped a lot and I will take your advice. I will be getting my port, Wed. not looking forward to that. My treatment is Adrlamcyin and cytoxan every 2 weeks for 8 weeks, and Taxol every two weeks for 8wks after that. (Not going to be a fun 4 mos.)
Take care everyone, and thanks again:)

Shellseak,
Hello thank you for the up date, The port isn't a bad surgery really pretty easy if it gets a little tender put ice on it and that should help a lot. I felt fine within a few days. Try not to use that arm to much the first week and that seamed to help me out a lot( lifting or pushing) . I did have to put somthing under my seatbelt for cushion because it put to much pressure on it but other then that not bad at all.
Hey just think another way to get waited on for a few days lol.lol. Take care and good luck to you my thoughts are with you angel hugs Roberta,
Roberta

Hi Shellseak,
You are having the exact same chemo I did, same timing. I did not have a port though, but I hear from friends who did that it isn't too bad.

Here is hopeing it goes quickly for you and let us know if you have any questions. I have said many times that "boost", raisin toast, chicken soup, and watermelon were all well tolerated. I also tried to add spinach to things (even spinach pasta) as my iron counts dropped from the treatments.

Agree with Roberta, get waited on whenever possible!!! You deserve it!!!

blessings and hugs,
Jenna

Hi Shellseak, I had a port put in and it really made it so much easier to have the chemo. No more vein sticks. I only noticed a little discomfort the day it was put in. It really is an easy surgery. Also they can draw blood for any lab tests they need to run. Also easy. I have had mine in now for 18 months. I go in every 6 weeks to get it flushed so it does not clog up. No big deal at all.

Am sending you loads of prayers for easy chemo treatments. Just take one day at a time. Make sure you tell your Dr or the Chemo nurses ANY side effects you are having. There is loads of meds for all of them.

Hugs
Jan
