Preliminary scan results - meh!

Well, I got an email from my oncologist yesterday morning. She had looked at my PET/CT scan and said that it looked like the node in my axilla was bigger than it was in May. She said she didn't spot anything "new" but she didn't comment on the lung mets. We're awaiting the final report from the radiologist before deciding the next steps.

If it looks like a mixed result (some shrinkage in the lungs, for example) we may add another chemo to the Xeloda. If it looks like there has been no regression, then we will move on to something different. She mentioned a few other chemos, some that would be by infusion. That would mean I'd need to go get a new port.

This is certainly not the news we all hoped for, but I am sure we'll come up with the right treatment soon. I've got the best minds at Dana Farber working on a solution. But it seems my breast cancer has a mind of its own.

Thanks for accompanying me on Pinkie, looks like there will be many more opportunities. Better get those cabana boys on retainer!

Hugs to all,
Michelle

Michelle,
Not only will we all be on board Pinkie for you but the cabana boys will be coming too, no charge!
Sorry the news wasn't better, but I am so glad there is nothing new.

Will look for you update from the radiologist. Unreal to communicate by email. It seems too personal to communicate in any way than by phone - maybe that is just me.

Thankfully you are at DF, the best of the best -

hugs & flowers,
Jenna

So very sorry that the news wasn't a mite better, but to know you have many options for whichever path you are on is good...As is having a good medical team!

Yes, the cabana boys have been alerted and we have chosen a few from the Olympics so that they have great stamina as well as great bods! Anything a Friend!!

Keep us posted on the reports and plans.

Blessings.

Michelle,
Was hoping for better news all around. But you are being cared for by a wonderful medical center and it is comforting to know that there are still options for your treatment.
We will still be with you on Pinkie, with drinks, food and cabana boys wearing speedos!!!!
Much love,
Judy

Jenna - it's my choice to get early results via email. I already know the "big picture" reality, so I'd rather have her give me a quick overview of what's going on, than be waiting for the final results and a phone call.

I wouldn't have wanted my first breast cancer diagnosis by email or phone, but now I want information in the fastest communication vehicle available. And sometimes, that would be email.

And because I have her email address, I can shoot her quick messages with my questions or thoughts. I think it works out well for both of us.

Thanks for looking out for me!

Hugs,
Michelle

Michelle---- Dang, I was hoping for better news but one thing there is nothing NeW. That is the good news part, Right?

Boy, I am with you about getting fast prelim news ASAP. I sure wish my lung Dr did email. They do have a patient info chart on-line but the Doc's never put anything on it. I am not real sure how it works.

I am going to ask him if he has email addy he could give me. Many times I have questions and seeing as how they NEVER return messages on the nurse line---UGH. I think email would be a better way to go. Shoot--- after 7 years of dealing with this crap nothing is going to suprise me. I just want the info ASAP. If they have more results then a phone call.

I agree forget the personal part of it. Just the info.

I will be on Pinkie for you---just let us know time and place. I am sure Rachael can use the Jet burners on the engines and get us all there on time.

Fondly
Jan

Hi Michelle,
Glad then you can get a quick overview by email if it can be that much quicker. I have my oncologist's email address and I did send her a few messages during chemo with questions. She tended to respond much quicker than by phone.

Judy, speedos??!! Wow, this should be an interesting ride! Some of us might get a bit crazy!!! LOL

have a good day ~
Jenna
