BRCA1 or BRCA2 positive? What have you done to reduce your cancer risk??

I have a very strong history of breast cancer on my paternal side. Did genetic testing 3 years ago and found out that I do carry the BRCA2 gene. I am faced with the decision of surgery or continued screening. I would love to hear from other women in the same position as myself and what choices were made. If you had elective surgery, were you happy with your decision? Please tell!!!

Nobody can make that decision for you. I'm sure there are women who had elective surgery and thought it was a mistake, and women who had elective surgery and are thankful they did, and the same for those who opted not to have the surgery.
There are no right or wrong answers - the only advice I can give you is to make the decision that will give you total peace of mind.
It is your life and your body and YOUR decision. You need to think about your options and you might even want to consult a plastic surgeon to see what reconstructive options you are a candidate for and the pros and cons of each type. That might help you in reaching your final decision.
I wish you good luck - and please let us know what you decide and how you arrived at that decision. That info will help other ladies too.
