Hi, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2010. My hair came out after my second treatment and my last treatment was on July 10th 2010, I didn't take radiation because I opted to have a bilateral mastectomy to avoid radiation and more biopsies. My hair started growing back at the end of August and by Christmas my head was covered good with about an inch of hair all over. My hair is now to my shoulders, but is really thin and straight compared to the thick, course and curly hair I had before. I am thankful to have a decent head of hair, but I am wondering if there is something I can do to get it to grow thicker and fuller. I am a cosmetologist and I still find myself having a hard time with it. If anyone has anything to share please do so and I'll do the same. Thanks!

I find that time helped with my hair growth. I am still on Arimidex which causes thinning (5 years after treatment) but I trim my hair every few months to keep it healthy and while its not as thick as it used to be, as time goes on it looks more like the old me.

I think a healthy diet helps, I really don't know if any of those shampoos actually work.

My chemo took every strand of hair I had. My eyelashes are a bit thinner than they used to be so I wear glasses always in the sun as they seem more sensitive to light.

hang in there - it does get better.

I took pre-natal vitamins(for the extra iron and folic acid) and my hair stylist thinks it helped me. But I had thick, fast growing hair to begin with. I think time is the best healer of thin hair.
