Thanks for the good wishes, Shell! As for celebrating, we are just taking it easy...movie and dinner...maybe enjoying the night sky on the patio later...It is a lovely day!
Secrets? Geeze! You've 26 years under your belt so you obviously know most of them. I have to admit that the main one for me was having the good fortune to choose my partner wisely!!
Along this line, I must share with you a story which my sweet MIL told me years and years ago:
In a small town there was a couple who had been married longer than anyone living there. Everyone recognized what an accomplishment this was as neither mate was particularly "saintly"...Merely human! So, no one could unravel just what made their relationship so special. Finally, while one of the neighbor's was visiting the wife, she could take it no longer and asked: 'What magic do you possess or what secret do you know that has kept the fires of love ignited all these years? Surely there must have been some very trying times?' What kept you from leaving then???'
The old woman merely smiled knowingly, and beckoned the visitor to a closet area under the stairs. As they stood before the closed door, the wife explained: 'When we were first married I packed a suitcase for the day when I felt it necessary to leave. All these years it has been stored away in this closet.'
As she opened the door expecting to reveal her luggage, there beside it standing also at the ready was that of her husband's!!
Moral of the story: Choice and knowing it was always there!
Blessings now and for your next 21 years plus!
Rachael
PS...Sept 28th is my daughter's birthday so this year when I am celebrating her, I will also celebrate you!!
