Forbes news release of Dec. 11, 2012:[br>[br>CIO NETWORK | 12/11/2012 @ 9:29AM |244
WebMD Cutting Staff 14% - 250 Jobs - In Cost Cutting Program
WebMD this morning disclosed plans to cut 250 jobs — about 14% of the company's staff — as part of a plan to reduce annual operating expenses by about $45 million. The company said the plan is designed to "streamline its operations, reduce costs and better focus its resources on increasing user engagement, improving customer satisfaction and driving innovation."
[br>The job cuts at the Web-based health information provider will be effective at year end.
[br>"WebMD's value proposition for users continues to be very strong," CEO Cavan Redmond said in a statement. "Becoming leaner and more nimble will enable the company to extend our leadership in this highly dynamic and increasingly demanding marketplace. In addition, anticipated changes in U.S. healthcare will provide meaningful new opportunities to link the needs of patients, consumers and healthcare professionals to enable them to navigate their care. We are moving swiftly to implement these operational changes and new market initiatives."
[br>The company expects to take a pre-tax restructuring charge of about $6 million to $8 million in Q4, mostly for severance and related costs.[br>WBMD this morning is up $1.06, or 7.7%, to $14.91.[br>
Sadly, it appears things have turned a corner, and what we once knew will no longer be the case. Why they deemed it unnecessary to share this with our communities is a question which remains unanswered, but I wanted to let everyone know so we did not continue to expect their reappearance (much as we had always awaited a promised "expert" for this board!)
Sorry the news isn't better. We wish Caprice and Haylen and all the gang our best...They will be missed.
Blessings.
Rachael

Rachael,
Thank you for the up date how very sad to hear they will be missed a lot.
I really liked knowing if we had a problem we always had Haylen to ask and she would find out for us. Plus I just liked having her here and getting to know her and see her little ones pictures on here I will miss them also. It is like losing a family member
Angel hugs To you all we will miss you Roberta,

Thanks for the update, Rachael. It's sad that the management thought so little of us that the mods were not even allowed to say goodbye.
Not well played at all, WebMD.

Thank you for that update Rachael. I have been really wondering and worrying about Haylen. I agree, it really is like losing a family member.
It's sad we didn't know that this was going to happen.
Haylen, if you come back to read any updates, know we always wish the best for you and you are missed!
hugs,
Jenna
