post surgery pain
pat0507 posted:
It has been 10 years since my mastectomy, radiation and chemo. I have in the past few months began to have pain at the surgical site, it feels like a burning sensation and is tender to the touch. Any one with any thoughts would be helpful as I have lost my medical insurance coverage

Hi Pat,
I'm afraid I'm in no position to give you help on your question, as I'm only seven months post mastectomy, but there are many women on this board who may know a lot more. It seems to me that a medical opinion is needed, as I'm sure you know. If your surgeon who did your mastectomy is still practicing in your area, I wonder if he would see you and set up a payment plan. I'm sorry you have to worry about this but hopefully you'll see a medical professional and get reassurance.
I'll be thinking of you and sending good thoughts.

Hello, my first question would be is there any redness also with the buring? I also had some buring and pain 4 years out from my surgery and some swelling but I had some redness with mine and it turned out to be an infection. You need to get it checked out no matter if there is redness or not. Once you have had breast cancer and suregry and there are issues like this you need to bring it to your doctors attention. I would call someone and get it checked as soon as possible just to make sure there isn't an infection or something going on in that breast. It could also be scar tissue I have some pulling and buring in my chest due to scar tissue from my surgeries. The more I do using my chest muscles the more I will feel this pain. If you have done anything diiferent using the upper body this could have caused some chest pain. But I would still get it checked just to make sure. Please come back to let us know how you are doing and what you may find out good luck with everything. Angel hugs Roberta,
