suspicious Mammo

Hi All, No tumor yet noted, but a radiologist just recommended MRI for me due to suspicious growths, changes since a year ago....? pre-canc calcifications. I do not know, only that the insurance company is not authorizing MRI (yikes!) without more physical diagnostics first. Does anyone know in what form that may be...particular serum labs, if it is too early for physical exam to show anything? I am a woman of faith trying not to frak out, yet this Mom of three- youngest is 6 y.o. has a healthy scare going on.

Any all tips welcome as I fight to get this MRI done (knowing it does not detect all breast cancers either). Thank you and Peace to you all, Beth

HI Beth, I see you mentioned that a radiologist recommend the mri - what about your doctor? I know in my case my pcp had me do an ultrasound, then a needle biopsy. It is so difficult to get the insurance companies to pay for things without exhausting other avenues first.
I would speak to your doctor about this as soon as you can. The quicker you can resolve it, the better for your peace of mind so you know what you are dealing with.

Deep breaths and good luck - please keep us update.

Beth,
Hello, I agree with Jenna my Doctor also had a ultrasound done then a biopsy when my mammo showed something. Then when both of them also showed something I had the MRI done due to the fact that the mammo did not get the lump that we all could feel and see. That was due to the area it was in very hard for the mamo machine to get it under the breast and very close to the breast bone and ribs. So please talk to your pcp and see if they can set you up for these test first and hopefully there will be no reason for an MRI after all. I wish you all the best good luck and good health to you. have a good day angel hugs Roberta,
Roberta
