Hello ladies I have a few questions I am having my port taken out finally July 2 after 5 years of having it in. But now I am getting a bad case of the nerves.I have some questions did any of you have yours taken out and if so how was it ? Did you have any issues during surgery or after? How is the recivery from it ? Did you or do you still have pain in that area ? What does it look like in that area after having it out ?
I know it is a lot of questions but I am hearing and reading a lot of different things so I was going back to the ones I trust you ladies ! You are like my family and everything you have helped me with so far has been great so I am hopeing you can help me here also.
I just need someone that has been there done that and could help me over this bump in the road also. You know me a bag of nerves before surgery but after I am A Ok !! My port as bothered me since the day they put it in it hurts all the time so my breast care doctor agrees it is time to come out before I start having other issues with it. Plus I just don't like it it looks nasty with summer tops a bump in my chest and it hurts if I touch that area with anything or of Kaiden bumps it, time to go.
So if any one has had theirs taken out please let me know how it was for you and how that area feel today. Thank you so much for your time and wishing you a great day angel hugs Roberta,
Roberta

Hi Roberta,

I wanted to answer you to let you know I don't have a port, don't know why, some medical people at Duke seemed surprised that I didn't, always just had intravenous chemo. So I can't contribute any information, just wish you well with it. I wanted to let you know too that my sister does have breast cancer. She just called and told me. She's 62, and one of my triplet sisters. I had hoped so much that this wouldn't happen to her. She's one strong woman though. She'll get through it just fine, I think. I'm feeling pretty sad about it.

Hugs to you,
Janie

Roberta,
I had mine taken out. They numbed the area, and made a
small incision and took it out.It felt weird coming out.
The tubing in your vein goes quite a long way. The incision
is about an inch. My clothes (even low cut) cover it.
I always had a problem with my port showing .I have had
no problems at all. Don't miss that port at all. I will be right
there with you. I'll be on "pinkie " to escort you.
Hugs,Cindy

Janie,
Thank you for the kind words and best wishes it means alot to me.I am so sorry to hear about your sisters dx but like you said she is a strong women so she will get through this too. She has you to help her through it and she can come here also and chat ask questions and know she has a shoulder to lean on when ever she needs one. It is ok to feel sad that is normal she is your sister and you know how she is feeling some what and what she is going through and what she will be going through. But remember at the same time everyone is different and may react different so if she deals with thing in a different way then you did it is not wrong it is her way ok !? But be there for her when she needs you and give her space when she needs that also. You know how it is you have been there just be you, be her sister no one else and things will be just fine. You will know what she needs and when like a good laugh or a hug or just something nice to eat a good movie and quite time alone. Oh a day getting her nails done and relaxing I loved those days of just having someone pamper me. I wish you both all the best angel hugs to both of you Roberta,
Roberta

Cindy,
Thank you and you have made me feel better knowing that it is a easy thing to have done and it was a good thing for you not bad or painful after. I will be in OR and not remember anything at least that is what the doctor tells me I am going to be out like when they do collenoscopy. So hoping I am asleep pretty good do not want to see or feel an of it. They are doing it this way because it has been in for 5 years and has scar tissue around it. Plus I would pass out just thinking about it if I see needles or blood that is it all she wrote out like a light lol.lol. Even on T.V and it is fake lol.lol. I am a big baby when it comes to stuff like that really always have been weak stomach very weak !!! Even for Holloween stuff if bloody yuck cover my eyes !!lol.lol. But I feel better knowing you had it done and you are ok no pain after yours is fine now so feel much better thank you. Now just the reg nerves before surgery lol.
