    Brocolli May Fight Cancer Growth

    Interesting article about brocolli fighting cancer growth! Now I'm even more determined to encourage my kids to eat that green stuff.

    Do you keep cancer fighting foods in mind when you have a meal or snack?

    BioResponse DIM is used as well to help fight cancer recurrences because it is the equivalent of eating many pounds of cruciferous vegetables in a pill.

    The thought of preparing "Pounds of cruciferous veggies" so my kids will eat them makes me exhausted.

    I'm still interested to learn if they community takes cancer fighting foods into consideration at mealtime or in the grocery store...

    I don't specifically though I know it is a good thing to do...Could it be that I think of chocolate as having all the curative elements I need???

    One thing I have found for myself (and maybe for all the "other kids"???) is to doctor them up with spices and sauces...Makes some of them so much more interesting and tasty.

    I do keep it in mind, perhaps not as much as I should, but I'm always adding brocolli to salads and having it with melted cheese. I also avoid many processed foods that can have chemicals in them that, I believe, can build up and be dangerous to your body. Do you have a list of other cancer fighting foods--would be good to keep handy.

    Cruciferous vegetables include:
    arugula
    bok choy
    broccoli
    brussel sprouts
    cabbage
    cauliflower
    chinese cabbage
    collard greens
    kale
    mustard greens
    radishes
    rutabaga
    turnips
    watercress.

    Once again........THANK YOU for this informative post !! I had recently read this on online news but never thought about posting it. This is great !!

    Yes, I now eat many more fresh veggies, especially tomatoes and brocolli. I eat them fresh as a snack and I drink a large glass of V8 juice every night. I am in the process of adding blueberry/pomegranate juice to my daily regiment. And I DO NOT eat soy in any form.

    Yes , when I want a snack now I try to go whole grain or fresh fruit or vegtable. I had a good diet to begin with. My husband thinks that it helped with getting thru chemo. Now I have added even more fresh fruits and vegtables. I try to get organic(when available and can afford). I grow my own in the summer. I don't microwave my vegtables anymore. I don't know if it makes any difference.I also am leary of too much soy.I still like meat and I have a surgary snack here and there!I don't want to give up all the good stuff!

    I'm with you Cindy. I thought I had a good diet before my diagnosis, but have tried really hard to make improvements. I eat tons of blueberries now and add them to yogurt along with flax seed. I try and get an extra mouthful of veggies down at dinner, and only eat whole grain breads. It is exhausing as diet is always on my mind. I'm sure it helps, but I don't feel my eating habits contributed to my b.c. I was told by my oncologist that the good eating habits helped with chemo. Who really knows???
    I also only buy organic milk now. I will NEVER give up chocolate though!!! Well, it does contain iron and calcium, right???

    Jenna - not sure what kind of b.c. you had, but in what I have read, flaxseed is good for b.c. prevention, but once you have had b.c. (estrogen-receptor positive), you should use it in moderation, if at all.

    My diet was not bad before, but I have tried to increase the amount of fruits and veggies that I eat. Eating healthier is a lot more work, but when I look at the list of ingredients in processed food, it really motivates me to try to eat more natural and home-cooked foods.

    I agree about chocolate. Although I tend to try to stick to dark chocolate and tell myself it is good for me
