One week of breastfed infant has diahrrea after switcching from formula

My daughter is nowbrestafeedingher one week old son. He began on Similac sensitive formula inthe hospital and is now breatfeeding and we are supplementing with formula untilher milk comesin good. Marcus has bad diahrrea and although he is drinking about 2-2 1/2 oz.of formula and suckling for about 10 minutes on each breast, his poop is still very watery and yellow. He is also getting fussy but does sleep for about three hours at a time. What could be causing the extreme runs?

Any advice is very much appreciated. Thank you-

These bowel movements are not a problem. They are actually perfectly normal for babies being fed breastmilk. They will be almost a mustard colour and watery...may appear as though there are little 'seeds' or 'pellets' in it. Breastfed babies will also have more frequent bowel movements than formula fed ones. You can pretty much expect a bowel movement after each feeding for the first month or so.
