Breastfeeding and Dieting
majaiasmommy posted:

I'm a 23 year old first time mom. I choose to breatfeed my daughter because of all of the amazing benefits that it gave to her, but also that added benefit of helping me lose weight. I've lost some weight, but not near as much as I would have hoped. Before I got pregnant I was a size 6, put on most of my weight at about the 6 month mark, and before delivery I weighed about 210 lbs. I currently weigh 180 lbs and am very unhappy with my weight gain and that I cant seem to lose. Are there any moms or dieticians/doctors that can help me as to how many calories I should aim for eating, to lose weight but still make enough milk for my daughter. I also think I don't drink as much water as I should which I feel like could help me lose more as well. So I am working on that. But I want to continue breastfeeding, just dont know how many calories a breastfeeding mommy needs if shes trying to lose weight but continue bf. I'd appreciate any advice. Thank you.
