Small, Dark Colored Lump on Inner Thigh

I've recently discovered a dark purple/blackish colored lump on my inner thigh. The lump started as a red bump, but became larger and a darker color. I am scheduled to see my PCP later this week for it, but I'm just curious if anyone has any suggestions as to what this could be. I'm hoping it's just a cyst, but I am worried about the possibility of it being Cancer. It's not bringing me pain or discomfort in anyway.
