melanoma clinical trial

It is great to hear that another clinical trial for cancer is doing so well. I have had melanoma for 6 years. Standard treatments only worked for a year. I went through several treatments with no luck. I was stage 4 with tumors through out my body inside. Surgery wasn't an option. My latest treatment I started in Jan 2008 is called Ipilimumab. It has worked great for me. It has got rid of some of my tumors and reduced the size and effectiveness of the rest. At one time there were only 2000 patients worldwide on this treatment and I was considered the #1 best patient of all of them. I am not considered that now but it has been great. I am told by my doctors that by the first of the year Ipilimumab will be probably FDA approved. It will then take a few months to get to all treatment centers but when it does I won't have to travel 250 miles one way every 3 months for treatment. If anybody want's to know anything about melanoma, let me know here at web md and I will try to answer it.

P.S. I am do glad to learn that you will not have to make the 500 mile trip every three months.

P.S. I still get my yearly mole check and I think everyone should and all of us should do a monthly check at home.

Cannot believe that my old name popped up!

It really is good to find you. You really know how to hide.

When WebMd first changed their website, I was not a happy camper, but now I think it is okay.

Jeff,

You have so much information about melanoma you should post on the melanoma board.

Sorry the last time I tried to log in it said the discussion couldn't be found. I just got back from my latest treatment. My Doctor told me that I am doing great. If you wouldn't know I have cancer my scans would like I jsut have scar tissue. The drug I am on, Ipilimumab will be sent to the FDA sometime in DEC. The 1,000 page documents might be approved in 1 month or up to 6 months. There are so many new advances in Melanoma/cancer treatment in just the 6 years that I have been treated in different forms that is only a matter of time in his opinion that some major breakthroughs are made.

And I will remember to post something on the melanoma board.
