Dealing with Friends with Recurrences

Hello everyone!

Seems like lately at least half of all my survivor friends have had recurrences and that's hard to deal with. One of my best friends who didn't have it come back for seven years found out today that she won't be cured. She's had four nasty rounds of chemo and now has to have two more. They've decided that her lungs couldn't handle radiation, so that option has been eliminated.

She carried my sorry butt through my bout with it and is handling it better than I could ever have. Just wish she lived near enough that I could really help her (she's in Wisconsin and I'm in Ohio - It's amazing what the internet can do).

It's really scary to see so many having it come back, when it wasn't suppose to. I think that's why it was so important to me to get this little group up and going again.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer! Jim, I'm actually looking for Halloween decorations already! You really rub off! )

Have a great week and thanks for listening (reading my rant).

Hugs,
Angie

Hi Angie,

Yuck, sorry to hear about your friend. Yeah, I know what you mean....I still worry when I have to see my Onc for my yearly checkup.

Good deal on the Halloween stuff....nothing rearing it's head here. It'd be better if we actually got some kids at the door, but since the only ones who show up are our neighbor's girls....the excitement level is pretty low...oh well.

Sure I rub off....I'm hard to get rid of....like a rash BTW: The Mom of the girls that come here has a special set of "Bat" earrings...they're pretty cool!

BTW: Don't think I mentioned it, but Mary got me a late Fathersday Gift.....a 32" LCD HD TV Must be doing ok. The science shows are a lot more vivid with that...not to mention CSI (even though they don't have it in HD...bummer) So, I'm re-watching all my old science shows I have...great detail now....can't wait to see a few of my Spooky Movies on it

Did a couple of upgrades to my computer too....put in a 500W power supply and upgraded the video card to a 1 GB model...the thing really hums along now. I was amazed that I installed the power supply and didn't blow anything up (I won't say that too loudly though). I figure with 500 Watts, I can do arc welding too

No problem on your 'rant'...sounds like you have reason to. My friend who had throat cancer had that big, nasty tumor grow in his bladder, but they got that one out, and he's doing fine now...he and his bride just bought a house, in fact.

I will keep your friend in my thoughts.

Take care of you kiddo!

Heard from Dave and he seems to be doing good. Said he's been busy, but will be trying to check in more often.

I'd like to upgrade my laptop, but am half afraid of the damage that I could do... LOL! Will likely start upgrading the old PC with eldest as a school project this fall. If we screw it up, it won't matter all that much, but if we do good, it will be great!

My dad just got the same sort of television. Has a built in DVD player and they slide in a slot like dropping a quarter in a machine. Thought that was cool, but I'm easily entertained... LOL!

Well, thanks for putting up with my rant. Hate seeing so many dealing with cancer again, after thinking that they beat it.

Have a great evening.

Hugs,
Angie

Glad to hear that you've heard from Dave...I send him my usual nonsense in emails, but don't get much back...glad it's just because he's been busy and not for any other reason

Yeah...heck, even if you blow it up, he can use it as a project to show now NOT to do it...as long as he knows why it blew up.

He can call it "Testing to failure"....an important step in the design phase of any product (gotta use things to your advantage...it eliminates others thinking of you as a dummy).

I've always been a little leery of multi-use items in electronics...if one goes bye-bye, then the whole thing has to go in the shop...I like components for that reason, but it's getting harder and harder to find separate items (for a reasonable price) anymore. It grumps the bazoogies outa me that my stereo has a built in CD player...my system in the 'Florida Room' is all components...separate tuner, separate tape deck, separate CD player, and even have a separate turntable and graphic equalizer (there's a relic).

I like twisting knobs.

Jim
