Treatment for radiation burns

When going through radiation treatment Aquaphor is excellent to treat the skin irritation. Just don't use it the day of treatment before treatment. Before treatment, make sure skin is clean and dry. I generally carried it with me and put it on right afterward.

I have a very close friend that was just diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She is to start radiation next week. She has become very depressed. Like she doesn't care about anything. I cheered her up one day and told her that attitude plays a large roll in fighting the cancer. But, she is in a slump again. I know that she is afraid. I am for her. What else can I do to help her.

Oh yes, her husband smokes and won't even go outside to smoke now. That has me angry also. He has been told the risk that he is putting his wife into. But, doesn't say anything.

Sorry, Just complaining now. Any suggestions or comments would be very helpful right now.

Well, I know that Aloe is good for treating burns, as long as the treatment is on the exterior.

Tell your friend to start packing a baseball bat and reach out and touch someone the next time he lights up...It's called "Approach Avoidance" training.

Depression is quite common with cancer and should be mentioned to the doctor, as it can be treated and she could perk up a great deal. I suffered with depression for over a year with my cancer and was amazed at how quickly and how much better I felt just by being put on a antidepressant. We're talking, I felt better in less than 24 hours.

Cancer is hard enough to deal with, she doesn't need depression too. It doesn't need to be a death sentence and she needs to focus on the fact that living is worth the fight. I've known a couple of people with Thyroid cancer and they both are going quite strong through and post treatment.

Have your friend come here and we'll do our best to perk her back up for the battle. )

Hugs,
Angie
