Mom has Lupus. Can I still get married in the Caribbean?

My mom just recently found out she has Lupus. I've been planning a wedding and my fiance' and I want to get married in the Caribbean in January.
Doctors are telling her to stay out of the sun and heat, but I'm wondering if there are ways around this. If I set the wedding for sunset, get her a big floppy hat, and make sure she has a nice spot under an umbrella...
Thoughts??

Hi Anon,

Sorry for the late reply! I had typed out a long response & thought it had posted, but realized it had not!

What I had said, in short, was...depending on your mom's symptoms and how severe her reaction is to the heat will decide what's best for each of you.

You might want to also post this question on our Lupus Community for some advice from other Members already living with Lupus. They may have some suggestions or handy tips for you. They are a great community (I moderate there, too!) that is very attentive and our Health Expert, Dr. Zelman, is great about checking in.

Congratulations on your engagement & hope everything works out well for both your mom and the wedding arrangements.
