Iron Supplements

I have a gluten intolerance, as well as low levels of iron. My doctor recommended that I take an iron supplement daily. However, I am having a hard time taking the pills because of the awful taste left in my mouth the rest of the day. I have tried taking the pills at night, after meals, with lots of water...nothing seems to work. Is anyone else taking iron supplements and having troubles with the awful after taste? I have stopped taking them because of this, but starting to really notice the effects of my low iron. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Other people do have a problem with taking iron supplements. You may want to take a look at: http://www.ehow.com/how_6281400_make-iron-supplements-taste-better.html
