Has anyone ever heard of diarrhea that happens all of a sudden, no chance to get up and get to the bathroom? It is happening immediately and there is no control.

Oh, yes! Very much a problem with me and has been for years. Soo embarrasing. I've been diagnosed with IBS but nothing helps. I am going to be tested for celiac disease in the fall when I go to my GI.

I have been having this problem too.....a combination of constipation and sudden diarrhea....until I began eating gluten free. I too will be tested in October, but I will remain gluten free regardless of the results.

DiniRee replied to Jerri55's response:
Chances are if you've been gluten free for a while, you'll test negative.

This has been a nasty problem of mine for YEARS! Has cost me more than one job, relationship, etc.

Now, I'm finding that in addition to staying gf, I also need to curtail sugar consumption, and be aware that antibiotics can trigger this "looseness" too.

I have heard both from different people. You will test negative or you won't test negative if you are already on a gluten free diet. Which one is the right way to eat and how will I find out for sure which will reveal accurate results? I am going to have a blood test maybe as early as next week. In October I will have a colonoscopy.
I just started the gluten free diet yesterday. Now I am confused and don't know what to do.

DIYSTER replied to tishienaenae's response:
If you have been Gluten Free for a while, it is very likely you will have a FALSE negative blood test result. I tortured myself eating food with gluten until I had the test and got the results. Positive for me. Been GF for about 4-5 days now. Seeing some signs of improvement.

Before you change your diet, get a confirmation on what you have. Good luck!

I was diagnosed with Celiac disease 12 years ago through an endoscopy. To be entirely sure that you have celiac, please do not go on a gluten free diet until you've been diagnosed because you want to be 100% sure that you have it. Eating gluten free is an extreme diet change and one that you will not want to maintain if you are not sure you have celiac. I eat gluten free and normally feel great. Unfortunately, I'm going through a period where I've had acute, chronic diarrhea for about 6 weeks now. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy and endoscopy at the end of the month. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if they ever figured out what was causing it.
Good luck telok. I hope you feel better soon.

my husband has had this problem for 5 yrs, lost 80 lbs, at that time he was diagnosed with celiac desease. after 4 yrs of strict gluten and wheat free diet. he still has this hidious problem , his direa is like fluffs of cotton, went to another gastroternologist. sent back to original diagnosing dr. after biopsys and all the upper and lower gi plus small intestine. says not cieliac. because with cieliac can be controled with diet, and people function normally, for we knew peeps who had this. were doing fine, so happens its major IBS with new strain of bactierum now one knows what it is. sent culture to NY, many other peeps in california and across the board have this for life. period. no fixing as of yet. very sad case, married 37 yrs. hope you do better, or get results.
lillifli. If i could, i would.
