I though Ensure was GF as it says on the can, but.....

I have been occasionally drinking Ensure, which is labeled gluten free for a few months, not often at all, just if I am in a real hurry and need something to eat immediately! I recently drank one rather quickly, went on my merry way and then became sick afterwards with severe watery diarrhea. After three or four rounds in the bathroom, I took Immodium AD and was ok. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them with Ensure?

Persevere, do you cross-react to the casein in dairy, or dairy products? Many celiacs do and it's also an autoimmune problem. You may need to find out because if I'm not mistaken Ensure is full of a dairy component that you might be reacting to.

I am not sure. I have always been able to have dairy products. I usually drink milk at least once a day and eat cheese, yogurt, pudding, etc. all GF.
I think I will buy some Lactose tablets and take those with dairy for awhile. I also just discovered that sweet potatoes make me sick now. White potatoes are ok though. And I can only have coffee and chocolate in very small amounts too.
Oh boy, what next?
Thank you for your response. I appreciate it a lot.
