Positive celiac panel blood test. Endoscopy?

joyw4 posted:
I had a positive complete celiac panel. Now my G.I. doctor wants to do a endoscopy. I've heard sometimes they are negative even with a positive blood test. My dad had a negative blood test and positive biopsy. I know I have it but am scared the biopsy will be negative. I feel like I'll never have any answers. Praying that it doesn't get too complicated. Help!

Most docs want to do the biopsy as they consider it the gold standard - which IMO it isn't. If you go ahead with it and it's negative, the only true determinant it whether or not you feel better and have better health with a gluten-free diet, THAT'S the answer your should consider trusting.

The other thing you might want to consider is the gene (allele) test. If it's 'in your gene' and the biopsy is negative, the biopsy is wrong. Period.
