Sick of being sick :)

Hey everyone! So I am not sure if I have a gluten allergy...but it has been on my mind for about a year now. About 4 years ago I noticed that I couldn't eat certain hardly anything without getting sick to my stomach. I would eat something like pork chops, corn, and a baked potato and wind up getting sick...and it didnt make since why because I thought that was half way healthy. Even salads with dressing even makes me sick.
Lately its to the point where my stomach is so upset that I have to force myself to eat. And when i do, I feel horrible. Sometimes I forget to eat until I almost pass out and then I will eat and I still won't feel better.
Is there anyone out there who can tell me if I am way off on thinking I have a gluten allergy? Because I've been going to doctors for about 6 years and none of them have helped me find a diagnosis so far....I am trying to narrow down every option so please reply! Thank you so much!

Have you asked the doc to do blood testing to find out if you have celiac which is an inability to handle foods that contain what, rye or barley ingredients? If not, that's one of the first things to do. The blood tests aren't always definitive, but they're a good way to get started.

The meal you suggested (pork chops, corn and a baked potato) wouldn't qualify as containing gluten unless the pork chops were breaded or if you ate a roll or other bread product along with you meal. And you'd have to check the ingredients on the salad dressing label to see if it contained gluten - some do, some don't.

It's sometimes hard to tell with celiac problems, however, since not everyone experience an immediate reaction to the ingestion of gluten.

Do you get rashes? Or experience changes in bowel habits? Do you get 'brain fog' or have any other symptoms that might be out of the ordinary?

I get really dizzy and weak...I have headaches all the time...I just feel tired and sick, my stomach is upset a lot of the time and I get gassy after most meals.
I asked the doc to do a blood test a while ago because diabetes runs in my family and I just wanted to be sure I didnt have that...but he just suggested medicine. Ive had one blood test done and all they tested was thyroid and everything came back fine with that.
Im looking for a new doctor because the one I have now just keeps writing prescriptions and won't listen or try to see if there's a bigger problem....

Roo2009, I myself have been going through alot of the same symptoms for the last 4 to 5 years and my doctor also was very lax. I have seen every specialist there was from neurologist for the seizure like episodes/ migranes to immunologist/ allergist, cardiololgist etc. Had sonograms, cat scans, mri's blood work etc. Finally I see a gastreo because my doctor thinks my pain is from gall bladder. I seen a surgeon and he wanted me to have an endoscopy so I did and they found out I have Celiac Disease which makes sense to me now with all of the symptoms. If I were you I would take matters into your own hands if you can find a Gastreoenterologist and explain to them what you are experiencing. I hope this helps

Don't know if you have found relief yet but had the same problems about 3 years ago. Ended up with surgery for a huge kidney stone because if you can't eat or drink properly this results eventually. Then when I never really recovered properly, on to the gastro specialist. Gastro paresis is where your stomache muscles that normally Contract and distend to move the food thru your stomach stop working efficiently. The result is food sits in the upper part of the stomache for long periods making youimmediately feel full and bloated. This goes for etching we eat and drink. Do you research. It is manageable. Takes a while to learn how to deal. Hope this helps. Lots of small meals to start. I could not eat vegs for 6 mos. good luck

I'm having alot of the same symptoms as you are & unfortunately can't find a doctor that doesnt send me away saying "we cant find anything wrong'! I been fighting this for years also but alot more symptoms lately. Already went to family doc and allergist which I got no answers from so am going to gastro doc this week. Lets hope he does some investigating & tests instead of sending me away with another "we cant find anything wrong"! I do believe its celiac I have but these docs make me feel like I'm losing my sanity! (and prob will if I dont find help soon cause I AM SICK!!) UGH...hope you get answers soon & good health come to all on here...

You should find a local support group and go to a meeting. Ask people there for a 'good' doctor that is familiar with celiac. Hopefully a 'good' doctor will be able to help you.

My husband had this for 55 years of his life and we figured it out 2 yr ago and got the diagnosis. He is much better now.
The right doctor is the key to your problem.

Just because the corn, porkchop, and potato dont have gluten does not mean anything. If your gut is inflamed from celiac it has a hard time digesting "any" food.

Hope this advice helps.
