alcolholism and statins
An_243684 posted:
what happens if you drink alcolhol while taking simvastatin?
bobby75703 responded:
An alcoholic beverage once in a great while probably won't make any difference.

However if a person is an alcoholic and consumes a significant quantity of alcohol, it places them at greater risk of damage from the statin. This is well outlined in the medical literature, showing alcoholism as greater risk for muscle pain and weakness while taking statins.
