Three substudies of the influential TNT (Treating to New Targets) trial have been retracted after the sponsor of the trial, Pfizer , discovered that blood samples from the study had been matched to the wrong participants.

Yes, errors can happen, but remember what TNT was, it was a trial to see if there was added benefits to increasing statin levels to 80mg. This in no way changes the results of the original statin trials, only a sub-trial looking for the results of an increased dosage.

Unfortunate but it happens.
