Night sweats?

now i can't seem to find what i was looking at before. however, i tried what i am sure is a set of different search terms and found that that "night sweats" on both sides of the body, or bilateral sleep hyperhidrosis, can be caused by several serious diseases and several more or less harmless reasons. i couldn't seem to find anything that tied bilateral hyperhidrosis to sleeping on one side or the other.
i think you should check this out with your dr.

Are you still having this problem? I have the same. When I lay on my right side, I get really hot....I can feel the heat, especially on my back....can't go to sleep like that. I've asked a couple of docs, and neither had any knowledge of this. Have you found out anything on the subject?

same here.Whenever I turn in my sleep to my right side I will wake up quite quickly and I am covered in sweat.
Doctors simply shrug their shoulders.

Thanks....nice to know I'm not the only one. But, I've found nothing online or by asking a couple of docs. In my next blood test, I'm going to ask them to test for Shingles....I had chicken pox when I was a kid, and as an adult, it is fairly common....I've read that shingles can cause night sweats...I wonder if if there is such a thing as a "Mild" case of shingles?

I don't think so. People with shingles normaly know that they have them, when they have them, because it is very painfull and itchy.
As far as the sweats is concerned modern medicos could only help us if they could prescribe us yet another pill. Should we exchange notes on what kind of pills we all take, in order to find out if it could be a side effect ?

good idea. I take generic Naproxen for arthritis pain, at 600mg before bed, abd 400mg in the AM. that's it for me...how about you?

that's going to be easy. I use Meloxicam against osteoarthritis pains but not on a regular basis, only when i have a horrible flare -up.Otherwise i just live with the pain.
On a daily basis I use Nadolol , a betablocker to lower blood pressure, and when needed Losec against gastric reflux. (or at least overproduction of stomach acid)
There, that was eay -but no cigar.

forgot....I also take Prilosec in the mornings for acid reflux.

true, we'd need more to make some case, but there is the two of us who suffer from acid reflux. we both take Omeprazol against it.
But how exactly is it when we don't take it and suffer from the reflux?
Well, when I sleep and then roll over on my right I got the mouth full of acid BUT I am also covered in sweat and then i wake up.
I think the sweat comes from the reflux.
What do you think ?

I had not considered that, but it's possible, I suppose. I just remember before I was taking it, I would wake up with the upset stomach feeling, and I was sleeping mostly on my back, which I still have to do. No sweating sleeping on the back or turned left....just when trying to sleep on my right....seems like if it was the reflux, it would be the same on either side....I just don't think that is the cause here. Have you searched any other medical blogs? I can't help but think that it's something on the right side of the body that is causing it...like a pinched nerve or such.

Well that's according to a recent New York Times article on October 25, 2010.
This claim is based on several studies published whereby "the total amount of reflux time was significantly greater" when the subjects laid on their right side after eating a high-fat meal.
This makes sense anatomically. Keep in mind that the stomach is located on the left side and the esophagus (swallowing tube) is located in the middle (comes off the stomach's "right side" so to speak). When you lay down on the right side, gravity is literally "emptying" the stomach into the esophagus located in the middle. Laying on the left side has gravity keeping stomach contents inside the stomach as the middle is now above the stomach.
