Can someone help me here...broken radial neck in left elbow

Ok. Here is the deal. I fell at my apartment complex on June 9th. The fall was caused by a pothole near the dumpster. I went to the ER that night and was put in a splint and sling, and was told to see an Orthopedic. I had the orthopedic appointment yesterday morning and they confirmed the broken radial neck in my left elbow. They took the splint off and told me to use the sling when it was really bothering me and to start moving my arm and to ice it as well. We haven't started therapy yet. I go back in two weeks to see where we stand and to get another X-Ray done.

My question is...was it to soon to remove the splint or to not have it stabilized? I am trying to move it and while I do have some more movement, I still cannot straighten it completely or bend it completely. I still do have pain, but have pain medicine for that. It is still swollen as well. I just question the removal of the splint and not telling me to use an ace bandage or something to stabilize it. When I got home, I went back to bed and ended up waking myself up with a body jerk, which caused my left arm to extend and caused me pain.

Does this sound like a normal procedure to any of you? I just find this a little suspicious. Thanks.

hello, C --

i think you need to talk with your dr or a different orthopedist from the one you first saw.
