Weird rash on my 4 year old

mama2sd posted:
My daughter had pink eye last Tuesday and started running a fever the same night up to 103 degrees. The fever reduced after a few days (and the pink eye healed with Erithemycin eye gel) but then Friday night she had a hot itchy rash all over her body, that went away with benedryl. The fever is gone as of yesterday (Tuesday) but she is still getting the itchy rash at least once a day. It shows up all over her body. It looks like little small bumps in clusters on random spots of her body. She has also been eating less but has normal BM's. The Dr. said that she had a virus and this is just the rash coming out from the virus and it could last awhile and not to be alarmed unless the fever comes back again. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hello mama2sd and welcome!

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. Unforutnately, this community doesn't have any health experts on it. You may want to try on Baby's First Year because we have a pediatrician there.

If you're concerned, you may want to take your daughter back into her doctor, or get a second opinion.

Let us know how your daughter is doing,

hello, M --

i did some very cursory research this afternoon on pink eye and rashes. i am not a medical person, but what follows is what i understood from what i read.

pink eye, also known as conjunctivitis, can be bacterial or viral. it is not unusual for it to be accompanied by a red, itchy rash. this is because pink eye and this rash are both caused by a family of viruses called adenovirus.

from what i read, i could not understand that these two symptoms can appear sequentially, tho, so let me send you in addition to the skin problems/treatments community, http://exchanges.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments-exchange , where they are more likely to be able to help you.

i hope you can get this cleared up; i know it is troubling for both you and your daughter.
