streptococus blood infection

When I was 3 years old I had streptococcus blood infection. The Doctors
treating me at the hospital found the strain of infection that it was and
gave me a serum for that special strain. The infection had settled in
my knees (before my condition was treated). When I was 48 years old
I fell at work and my right knee swelled up. I was taken from work to the
Doctor who took x-rays and told me that there was a lot of damage to my
knee and that it would have to be replaced. It was partly due to injury
and partly due to osteoarthritis. I have since had 3 major surgeries on my 2 knees (my first knee was let go for 13 months before my company
would agree to do anything about it. I put all of my weight on my left
knee and it ended up breaking down and having to be replaced also. I
said all of that to say this, my case is getting ready to finalize and I went for my final evaluation today. The Doctor is blaming my knee replacements on the streptococcus blood infection that I had had 45
years before my injury. Is this possible?

Hello Anon_230768 and thanks for posting.

If you have concerns about your doctor's judgement, then I would definitely think you might want to consider a second opinion. That doctor could then review your medical records, scans, health history, etc. and let you know what he or she thinks. If you feel your current doctor has not taken care of your knee appropriately, you can seek legal assistance to discuss that.

Perhaps reposting on the Knee and Hip Replacement community could be helpful? Unfortunately, we have no health experts on A Patient Voice Community.

I hope you get the care you deserve and everything goes smoothly for you. Let us know how you're doing,
