White spots on Brain MRI
avatar
lkohr posted:
I recently had a brain MRI to look for possible reasons for short term memory loss. The results showed "quite a few white spots in [my> brain". My doctor told me that they were nothing to worry about, but of course I am worried. Should I be worried. What are the white spots and what do they indicate?

Hello Ikohr and thanks for posting today.

Unfortunately, we do not have a Health Expert on this community any longer. Even if we did, a doctor would need to see your scans him or herself to make a determination of what they are.

My suggestion is to talk to your doctor. Tell him or her that you're concerned about the white spots, and would like to know what they're called and what they represent. If your doctor is unable or unwilling to help you, then you may want to consult with a neurologist or other doctor for a second opinion.

Update us on how you're doing if you have a chance,

White spots on your brain are lesions. They can appear in different parts of your brain. I have MS and on my MRI"S I have about 12 lesions. I would get another doctor for telling you that. Do you have any other symptons?
