Blood pressure issues

When I go to the doctor and have BP taken it is always high but at home when I take it it falls within the normal for the most part.....e.g 120/68. Sometimes it can run higher and often lower. The last time I went it was extremely high so the doctor put me on BP medication. I have been on it for three weeks and find I have little energy and often am very tired. I take my BP during the day and it has been running 100/52...at times I feel really awful and find the BP is 97/47. I have called the doctor and she does not seem to be concerned but it bothers me as I am usually quite energetic. I am tempted to stop taking the medication on my own. I do not see the doctor again until March.

hello, A223 --

a normal blood pressure reading is between 120/80 (see PS1) and approx 90/60 (PS2).

if you think your dr is not paying appropriate attention to the readings you are getting at home, my suggestion is to get a second opinion.

do not stop taking the blood pressure medication without consulting your dr first.

I agree with Susie, you really need to get a second opinion. I was a drug rep once and many times the drs are so overwhelmed they don't keep everything in perspective I feel. Also drug side effect profiles are real. People take that for granted you may need to be switched to another med that might fit better with you body. Also, please watch your diet..Truthfully diabetes and pressure can be corrected with food and supplements. Look at natural ways to help your condition and give yourself energy. Juicing is a great way to get energy within 2-3 days.
