hello, all --

many of you are already aware of other posts on bard power ports, but i want to consolidate all of the info in one place (current as of july 4, 2012). this post lists all of the other threads that i know of; the subsequent post has info on FDA complaints and previous adverse-event reports.

Hi Susie Margaret,
I just want to say thank you for all you do for all of us that have had problems with our ports. It is extremely helpful to have all of the link or threads in one place instead of having to go to several links to cover everything. Thanks!
I had surgery Fri to implant my THIRD PowerPort in 3 years! The doctor that took the old one out said that it had pinched off just under the collarbone and was about to fracture. It had stopped functioning a few months ago. You could flush the port but not draw blood out. He also said that the port itself was jammed with blood clots and that the tubing was as well.
Why in the world does this keep happening? Bard needs to do something to make their Ports safer. If you remember, my 1st Powerport tubing fractured and it went into my heart where I almost died. According to the condition my last port was in when they removed it, I would say that I was close to having the same thing happen all over again!
Bard needs to step up to the plate and revise their Powerports so that the tubing no longer gets pinched off at the collar bone and fractures. What do we need to do to make them step up? Any ideas?
Thanks for all you do!

Ciaranani,

I am on my second dual power port in just two months apart ! I am waiting for my report from the pathologist who examined my port.
If it comes back that it is a defect does anyone know who I can
contact regards this. The Surgeon who replaced my port
and injected dye before hand and found it leaking, we thought it happend from a IV nurse who punctured it but I have not received the report yet.
My insurance is having a fit and I want to make sure the right person is held responsible.
Thanks for any information you can supply.

hello, C and jessica --

some of the earlier posts discuss the possibility of legal action, and i believe that one or two of them even give some contact info. while obviously i don't know all of the facts and thus can't say whether that would be appropriate for either of you, it might be worth your time to go back and get as much info as you can about what others have done.

i am so sorry this has happened to you.
