the BEST thing you will ever do in managing your fibromyalgia, is to find the right doctor, it took me over 10 yrs. but at last I had found one, I am sure if you try (a rheumatologist) they are best at treating fibro which often accompanies arthritis as well. Good luck to you all in your quest to find a doc who will understand you and that you feel comfortable with. God bless to all.

Hello......MiMi in NC....another good thing is to make sure you learn all you can about living with the wrath of the dragon, aka FM.....and to ask your doctor to check your Vitamin D level.....which is so very important for a lot of us FMers....and actually for anyone who has a lot of chronic pain.....low Vitamin D is common for a lot of people these days and can cause additional pain by itself....a simple blood test but you MUST ASK the doctor to run it....it is not one of the common things that they check for yet.....

I would also encourage anyone with FM to visit Web MD's Fibromyalgia Exchange.....we have a wonderful doctor, Dr.
P on board, who understands how we feel....as he, too, lives with the wrath of the dragon....he has been such a wonderful asset to our FM Exchange.....and we also have a wonderful unique support group of FMers.....we have a few good men, mostly women, young and older, retired and working, several nurses on board.....and a lot of "good tools and tips" for FMers to try.....

With this being said.....you have NOTHING TO LOSE....and everything to gain....the invitation is always open to everyone....and I think once you have visited the FM exchange.....you will be glad you did....

Just click on All exchanges in the top left hand corner...and then click on the Fibromyalgia Exchange.....and you will be there....

I also invite you to review my personal exchanges...."VItamin D and Pain and Wrath of the Dragon".....

Since MiMi was as kind as ever to mention the great Fibromyalgia Community we have here at WebMD, I'm including a link so you can get there faster.
