Will Power,/Central Nervous System?

Bspidey posted:
Hi, CFS Community,

I'm just throwing this question out to see if I can hook something.

I have been trying to diet recently and I just don't seem to have the will power that I had before the CFS. Has anyone else noticed this?

My doctor brother says CFS is related to the Central Nervous System and I'm wondering if therein lies the rub.

Any bites?

Beth
Beth--

If God is for us, who can be against us. He who did not spare his own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things.

Not sure if it is related to CNS, but will power is really hard to get a hold of. The little voice inside me says it shouldn't be related? But then what do my voices know? Just kidding. But I don't think it is related.

I also need better nutrition guidelines, I am pre diabetic. I just can't seem to get a handle on the right diet.

I do know if you can make it 3 days, that is good. I was told years ago that it takes 21 days to get the urge, or cravings out of system. My problem is sugar/sweets.

At the time, I made it the 21 days, and was quite successful. Well, lo and behold, i slipped up, ate a sweet, and it was all over.

Could it be you are lacking will power because maybe not as active as you used to be? I know on days I am busy, I don't eat as often, or open fridge and look for somethig good.

Now having said that, I had problems staying in bed, (back issues) I tried the ice like dr. says, ended up getting up, turned computer on, and fixed myself some vanilla ice crem with chocolate syrup.

Will kick myself in rear later, LOL. Hopeing someone else pops in and can give idea's or suggestions.

Good question, Beth,

Let's see. What is will power. It's not in my vocabulary but I did try to look it up and apparently I have the will but not the willingness to do so.

Diet is such a nasty word. It always means I have to give up something I really enjoy, cookies comes to mind. Like Sarah, sweets is the hardest for me. I pretty much gave up eating candy - hurts my teeth. But cookies. I really need some help with.

My daughter even loaned me an "Idiots Guide to Self-Hypnosis". LOL! Haven't touched it. Just like the "Flat Belly Diet" books I ordered from Prevention. Oh well, the thoughts are there. Just not the actions.

How much weight do you want to lose?

Your doc is probably right. If you look up CFS on WebMD it's listed under Central Nervous System. Go figure.

Hugz,

Karen
