Da Boss' Knee

Ok, got the Boss in to the hospital this morning at 8:30, and she's all prepped and ready to go...then they tell us that she's last in line for her surgery...meaning...3:00-3:30 PM

So, tell us again why we needed to be there at 8:30 this morning?

Right now I'm home on a lunch break as the Snack Shop in the hospital didn't have anything healthy to eat - figures Lots of fat, salt and cholesterol...but nothing healthy. Guess they're drumming up business for their cardiac unit

So, I'll have updates as they happen...just wanted to keep you updated.

Ok, so here's the update....

She's done with the surgery and is doing ok now....she's pretty tired out (really??!!).

She never did get her surgery started until 5 PM...oog....and I'm just now getting home....it's currently a little after 9 PM...got all the critters fed and got some phone calls made and out of the way. She was bummed because she wanted to try out her new knee, and they said no for tonight...too late....she may regret saying that tomorrow. But, she's doing good and the doc said she did real well during the surgery. Bet she'll sleep good tonight! I know I will...just gotta get unwired enough to get to bed.

Got her some flowers for when she got back to her room...nothing amazing, just some carnations...they stink good too...lotsa different colors, so she's happy.

More news as I get it.

Have a good night all.

Glad the surgery went well! I'm not sure, but one reason they may not want her up and at em today/tonight is she probably has lots of anesthesia in her system, and wouldn't want her to fall.

Did they put her in that thing that very slowly moves the knee up and down? they did that with DH, both knees. Gradually increasing how high it goes up.

Hope she has a good recovery, and you will make sure Pete doesn't get t excited when she comes home!!

take care of yourself also!

Hi Sarah,

Yep, that's the game plan from what we were told....plus, the physical therapists go home at 5 PM, and it was nearly 8 before she got to her room....so that kind of shot that down.

Her attitude seems to be good, and when we get home, I'm going in the house first, and putting Pete in the hallway with the gate closed....get her in and situated, and then let him out on a leash to make sure he doesn't get 'carried away'. She's already going to be packing a squirt bottle for the cats, and I told her that a rolled up newspaper slapped against her hand will be a good slow-down for Pete...and I'll be around too.

I'm taking care of me....gee, I didn't have any trouble getting to sleep last night....wonder why

I saw your post on the other board so know how she's been doing, how she's getting around a bit and doing PT. Yay!

I hope her recovery continues to go well, Jim. Regards to your bride (after all these years, I feel like I know her).

Hi
Caprice...yep, I figured you would have. Jury's out if I go in early today to observe her PT so I know what's needed...she'll call later and let me know.

You should feel like you know her...You've been adopted by us for years now!!

  • SMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILE* Love that idea!

And I'm guessing she's home by now and you're probably exhausted right about now. *chuckle* I hope you both sleep well and Pete's happy and not in the way TOO much.

    Hi Caprice,

Yup, she's home now....made up some broiled chicken, with corn and applesauce for dinner....guess it made a hit.

I'm WAAAY beyond exhausted, but now my work starts. Her PT person is due tomorrow sometime, and I need to be on top of things enough so that I know what we're doing in case anything gets changed up on us.

She's already tucked into bed....she took her ouchie med, and played a quick game of "You Know What", and her meds kicked in and she's off to La-La Land now....it's about 8:45 PM here.....I'm not going to be too far behind her either.

    Take care,

    Jim

Jim, I got in late on this. So glad the lady of the house has had a successful surgery.Sorry, I didn't know about it. Hearing about her over the years, I would say she will be up and about before you know it.

Take good care of her and yourself. hugs.

    Thanks Linda,

Yup, she's already starting to get a little 'stir crazy' from not being able to do as much as she'd like...usually a good sign. Just have to make sure she doesn't OVER do is all.

Been up since 3:45 when she got up....she's back snoozing now, but once I'm up, it's all over for me...so, I'll try and sneak in a nap later on.

Wow, did I sleep last night! We both did, we were beat! She's spent today paying for her little bout of enthusiasm yesterday...not too bad, but some. She's still tired, so she's already in the sack (and has been since about 7:00 PM...I'm betting that she sleeps through the night. She can't figure out why she's so tired....Gee...I can't imagine I keep telling her...You've had a pretty action packed week so far, so as far as I'm concerned, you're doing great! Of course, it's not great enough to suit her...gads. She'll come around, but like everyone else...she wants to be all better - YESTERDAY.
