Hello to those few of you who still look in here. It's never a good sign when I look down the list of discussions here and see my face plastered all over it. *chuckle* That means there aren't many others talking here.

This community has always been quiet and usually very well-behaved so there always has been little need for a moderator here. And it's quite possible that with me gone, this community will find a way to grow itself once again. I am still with WebMD and may peek in here now and then to see how it's going, but this board will no longer be actively moderated by WebMD after this week.

That doesn't mean you have no recourse should someone post something they shouldn't. If you spot something that needs to be removed, just use the Report This option which is available below each and every post. That report goes to our moderating team and they can look into it for you and remove if necessary. Reporting something does not inform that person that their post has been reported; it just provides the moderating team the opportunity to check it out.

And you can always write to communitymanagement@webmd.net with any broader concerns or questions.

We also invite any of you who are interested in becoming a community administrator (no power to remove posts but you can put announcements up and choose to start discussions of interest, etc., though there is no pressure to do either) here, please write to communitymanagement@webmd.net and put 'Chronic Fatigue Community' in the subject line and let us know who you are and what you're writing about.

This community will remain on WebMD for you all and for any newcomers finding their way here. I truly hope it will once again thrive a bit to become a support for all who seek it.

Thanks to all of you for all the years, the caring and the humor. I'll miss looking in here on a regular basis.

Aw Caprice, I know I don't post much anymore. I tend to not have alot to say right now in general. (thinking I am in a depression right now with all that has happened lately ) I hope you can at least stop by and check the board out once in a while. Have always thought you were a great mod for this and the old FM board.

Take care of yourself and hope you have a wonderful Christmas season.

Hugs

Nah..... it had already died to all intents and purposes, even with me here.

It's quite possible that, given a bit of time, this community could grow again without me here to get in the way.

I hope you'll keep looking in here and posting now and then and perhaps others will start returning.

Caprice,
What I have found the most frustrating about this community is that it's like a clique. You've got the old gang who know minutiae about each others' lives, and you've got the newbies who are sticking their toes in the water.

Some of the old gang made an effort to speak with the newbies, but I never really felt a part of the group.

Perhaps if some new people join and start forming their own clique, the board will continue.

Caprice_WebMD_Staff replied to Bspidey's response:
Hi Bsidey,

You should know that that had nothing to do with cliqueishness and everything to do with the entire community posting less and less here after we switched to the new board software, as their own health and lives interfered. Even the veterans had stopped posting to each other except briefly and then we had the only prolific member still left choose to leave WebMD altogether.

And yes, you and other newcomers can form your own community and make it into something that is supportive and welcoming to all.

I'll be looking in now and then to see how it's going and wish you all well. I know there are others out there who will need this community.

Caprice-

Even though I had been MIA on the board, I wanted to thank you for your hard work and dedication over the years. It's been a pleasure to know you, and I hope you will look in on us from time to time.

It has been my pleasure to help out, Caprice, I'm not that active because I just don't have the time anymore.

By the way, I continue to recover from my heart attack in April of 2009, and Marlene and I have been smoke-free for over two years!

Happy New Year, and many thanks again!

Congratulations on being smoke free for over two years, Pauly! I quit smoking in '93 and it was the absolute best thing I could have done for myself and my family.

May 2011 be a year of continuing better health for you and Marlene!

Hi Caprice,

I just checked back in here today after being gone for over a year. I too want to say thank you! I made many life-long friends on the boards.

Bspidey: I totally see where you are coming from! I am oldie here. It wasn't so much a clique, as it was a group of people who had been through the same problems for 8 years. This was a wonderful haven of support and friendship. We had Christmas card exchanges, spring flower seed exchanges, silly chats..... just fun stuff that drew us all together.

Most of us had split off from the fibro/cfs board years ago. The cfids board was easier to keep up with because it was slower.

I stopped posting a couple years ago when the board software changed. It was just too hard for me to follow (and I hate change). Now I see that it is back to a form that is a bit easier to follow. Maybe I will check in once in a while..... Guess I'd better update my profile.

I think the real downturn happened when certain "social networking" became popular. Most of us keep up a bit there. But I feel for those of you who are newly diagnosed too. I would have been lost without Webmd message boards!!!

Julie,

Thanks for your support. I really did find it difficult carving a niche on this site, and I pretty much gave up. It's like any other established community--often hard to break into.
