Healing from a fracture

I suffered a stress fracture on the left side of my pelvic bone. I suspect this happened when I fell down my stairs on Halloween. I had run a half marathon on the 29th, so I lived with the pain for 2 weeks thinking the fall just injured my already sore muscles. I'm scheduled for an MRI this week, but was put on crutches immediately and told to stay off it as much as I can so the bone can heal over the next 6-8 weeks. I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything I can do to reduce my pain. I have tried OTC and even Hydrocodone and nothing seems to be helping much with the pain. Sitting and standing are uncomfortable. I do get some comfort lying down. Also, is there anything I can be doing to not lose everything I had worked up to in my distance running- stretching, maybe some other exercise that will not aggravate the break?

The healing time for broken bones is influenced by a number of variables that nutrition can impact including blood supply. For example, the ends of long bones are vascular so they heal faster than the center. Certain types of food and exercise foster increased blood supply and hence time it takes to heal. Mobilization, i.e. weight bearing exercises and isometric exercises stimulates healing.
