Niki Is Gone....

She passed today at 10:35 A.M. and was lucid to the end. She had previously signed papers for no heroics when the end came and the doctor was summoned when her lungs began to fail. He asked her about 18 different questions and she answered them fine. Then he asked her if she had any last requests and she said: "Yes, give me a damn pain shot".
She is no longer in pain and her body is not wrecked with cancer any longer. I miss her dearly already. I know everyone here on the boards will miss her for a long time to come.

I sit here crying as I had hoped we could resume are wonderful late night calls. She was a real special lady and loved by all. We used to talk for hours and she just loved her family and all those on this board. How old was she?
The only blessing, as you said, she is not in pain anymore. The was my consolation when my sister passed as she fought breast cancer for 4 years. It is always those left behind who have the pain to deal with in the aftermath.

Hi Karen, I didn't know you were back. I'm sorry to hear about Niki but not surprised. Bless her heart, she went out as one would expect, with her indominable spirit. I know you loved your friend and will miss her alot. My sympathies to all her loved ones. love and hugs, Linda

I knew the end was near, but it doesn't help the sadness I feel in my heart. My prayers for her family, I hope they can all come together and celebrate the life Niki that had.
