Good morning! I have been reading this discussion for awhile but finally decided to post. I have been put on clomid as I do not have regular periods and was not ovulating at all. I took 50mg days 5-9, BD on days 8-22 and my doctor told me to test on days 28 and 35. I am currently on day 33 with no positive pregnancy test. I have extreme bloating among other symptoms. If my test is negative at day 35, my doctor said I"ll do another round of provera and increase my dosage. Could I be pregnant on day 35 and not have a test? I've read that clomid can make cycles longer but since I never get a regular period I am a little worried at starting the provera cycle again so quickly. Any suggestions or input based on what you have all experienced?

The one bad thing about clomid is that it mimics pregnancy symptoms. If you test again on CD 35 and it is negative, I would just ask for a blood test if you don't feel comfortable moving on without getting AF. However, I did have a friend who was pregnant but didn't get her postive until she was 3 months along...so there is hope...

Hope I helped a little bit at least!
Me(36), DH(37), 3 rounds clomid, TTC 18 months, 3 IUIs with HCG trigger/clomid BFNs, referred to RE, appointment 3/21, LAP surgery 3/28, sitting out this month b/c of MMR shot

Yes, thank you so much for the reply! I would just hate to start the provera and next round without making sure I wasn't just getting a false negative. I'll ask my doc for a blood test, I wonder why she didn't mention it.

This drug does do tricky things with pregnancy symptoms. It is hard not to get excited but I'm being cautiously optimistic!

Did you get b/w or u/s done to confirm you ovulated? When I first started Clomid the Dr confirmed I had ovulated and I just simply did not believe that AF would come on her own, but the nurses assured me that if you ovulate AF will come.
I am currently on CD 33 also, with no period and no positive pregnancy test. I am calling the Dr tomorrow to figure out what I should do. I feel your pain! The wait is agonizing.

I did not go in for any tests but used opk and had a positive. The thing that confuses me is that my period does not come on its own so I always have to take provera to start it so I just don't know how long to wait! Sending positive thoughts your way! The waiting and not knowing is the worst!

OPKs aren't 100% reliable, especially with certain medical conditions such as PCOS. Since it reads hormone levels, it's very possible to get a false positive. I would ask your doctor to do blood work (bw) on CD21 to confirm whether or not you've ovulated. It's really the only way to know for sure.

I don't ovulate on my own either. When I don't ovulate, I don't get a period. When I do ovulate, AF (Aunt Flo) comes like clockwork, almost to the day of a normal cycle. When I don't O (ovulate) and have to take provera, my doctor told me to wait until CD35, test for pregnancy just in case then go ahead and start the provera. Hope that helps!
Me 23, DH 24, TTC 21 months,8 rounds Clomid,round one 7.5mg Femara this cycle, BW 5/1, test 5/8

I too do not O on my own and would have 7-8 week cycles. While on clomid, as long as I O'd back in 2008 when ttc DS (anywhere from cd 16 with 100mg cd3-7 and cd20 with 100mg cd5-9) I went in 7 dpo for progesterone bw to confirm (for me that was cd23 to cd27) and at 14dpo I would either get AF for a bfp. Like clockwork. So my suggestion would be if you think you did O, AF should arrive about 14dpo. There is a chance of getting positive OPK and not really Oing too. I was getting positive OPK 2 separate times during my non-Oing 8 week cycles but never actually O'd. My body was just trying to O but didn't.

wait till 14dpo and if no AF, test. If negative and still no AF, go in for bw to make sure. Then if you need another cycle of clomid, still do your OPK and ask your dr for progesterone bloodwork around cd 21 or whenever 7 dpo lands for you. That will be a definitive yes or no if you O'd.

When you say you have always had to take provera to get AF, is that with no true confirmation of Oing?

It is hard to believe but you should get AF if you ovulated. I never got AF on my own either, I have PCOS. As someone else said PCOS and some other medical conditions can give you a false positve on a OPK. I'm waiting on the call back from the Dr now to figure out where to go from here. CD 34 and no AF and no bfp. I normally ovulate late, around day 17 and get AF on day 31. Like clockwork. I'm pretty sure I ovulated this cycle bc I had the ovulation pain, but unfortunately no bfp. Yes waiting is the worst! Good luck to you!!!! Hope you go in for b/w and get a bfp!

Thanks for the response! This is all so helpful! Here is how this all started, I went off birth control over a year ago in hopes to start ttc and waited 4 months with no period...my doctor then said well sometimes it takes 6 months for it to return. 10 months later and moving to a new state/getting a new doctor, I got a full blood workup. She had me take provera and then come in to do bloodwork to see if I did O. I didn't O either time she did the blood work so she knew from the get go that I would need clomid. My doctor doesn't seem to worried about having me come in to test, just said I will increase dose monthly if I do not fall pregnant.

On a side note, I also was diagnosed hashimotos thyroiditis last year, all of this lovely stuff started around the same time.

Thanks for the input on the OPK, I guess I assumed since I got a positive that I o'd.

blueeyebaby replied to HealthyHoosier's response:
If you are actually Oing, you shouldn't need nor want to increase the dose if you don't get preggers that month. Clomid isn't a miracle drug. It does help you O, then your chances are as a normal, perfectly healthy woman. If you take too high of a dose when not needed, it can cause cysts on the ovaries and/or multiples. You may want to insist on bloodwork this next cycle just to make sure you are Oing, then if you know you are Oing but still don't get preggers, you can take the same dose to keep from the unwanted side effects that can end up keeping you from getting preggers in the end like cysts, thin linning and low CM. It is best to just take the lowest dose needed to reach ovulation and keep there till you can announce your BFP. I wish you all the luck and I hope you don't take this warning wrong. TTC is hard enough, but adding our fertility issues to the mix makes it that much harder. And not all OB/GYN's know what to do with fertility meds and I would hate for you to end up with more issues than you need on your plate.

I am currently in Indy. I am originally from Ohio and moved here in 2006.

Well AF showed her face yesterday! Although that is a bummer that pregnancy didn't happen, I haven't had AF make an appearance without needing to take drugs to start it so my doctor says this is a great sign. She also mentioned, like many of you said, I probably did O if AF came. I'm am starting a new cycle and staying on 50mg for this cycle. I'm going to go in for testing this time too.

Thank you blueeyebaby for all of your input! I appreciate it! Side note...I do miss Indiana a bit!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!
