Help Please - Clomid Q

HI ladies - I've been poking around in forums reading everyone's stories but haven't posted before.

I'm 32, hubby is 37. We have been TTC for well over a year now. My annual check up was last month and my DR wanted to me to have bloodwork done on day 3 of next cycle so I did last week. Today I went in to get the results. She said everything came back normal for my hormone test but wants to start me on Clomid next month. My hubby is traveling so it was just me and I didn't ask the right questions so I'm hoping you can help.

If she said my hormone test came back normal, does that mean I o'd? She said we will try Clomid for 3 months then have an xray of the f. tube and get a semen test. So I'm just confused if I've been o'ing all this time, why are we even doing the Clomid? Shouldn't we jump to the xray and semen test?

It depends on what your situation is. You may O on your own but late or not a good one that actually releases an egg. Do you have regular cycles? Have you ever used ovulation predictor kits (found by preg tests in stores) to see if and when you O? Your dr may want to use the clomid to make sure you are Oing and if no pregnancy occurs then see if there is something else going on. The hormone test on day 3 I think mainly tells them if you have eggs and what condition they are in versus what happens durring cycle. Your hormones shift through your whole cycle depending on where you are at so one test won't tell them much but that you don't have PCOS symptoms and eggs are there. Dr's don't like to go invasive unless they have to so they do clomid and see if that works (make sure they are testing or monitoring you during your cycle to make sure you O and all...aka cd21 progesterone bloodwork or u/s) and you don't get preggers they will look deeper to see if a tube is blocked or there is a semen issue. If you want more info just call your dr and ask more questions too on what they are actually thinking. They are there to help you and make sure you are comfortable with your choices. Also shop around for the clomid. Walmart usually had 50mg for 5 days at $9, 100mg for 5 days (10 pills) for $18 where walgreens started 50mg at $20 and up from there. Insurance typically doesn't cover clomid because it is a fertility drug. There is alot of useful info here and we all stick together through our cycles and the ups and downs so you have come to the right place.

Baby dust to you and please keep me posted!!
