Hi Ladies!!

I was just given Clomid 50mg on the 7th of this month. I havent seen AF yet as my cycles are extremely long (78 days). So I haven't taken it at all. I am on Metformin and I took Provera the beginning of last year. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or advice for me. I know nothing about this!!!!!!!! Lol!!

Thanks in advance!!!

The number one piece of advice I give to newcomers is not to read into symptoms/side effects. The side effects of Clomid can closely mirror early pregnancy symptoms. This can and WILL play with your head. Based on how you're feeling alone, you may convince yourself you must be pregnant...try not to. This is an emotional enough journey without setting yourself up for disappointment!

Also, have realistic expectations. Clomid doesn't work for everyone. I hope it works for you, but you need to keep in the back of your mind that it may not.

Another tip is to come back and speak to us! The ladies on this board are understanding, supportive and wonderful women. We've all agreed that it helps to let off some steam to someone who actually DOES understand what you're going through. We're all in the same boat, so when we say we know how you feel it's because we actually do.

Welcome, and good luck!

I have a question does clomid regulate your cycles??
Amy7878 if your cycles are 78 days does that change with clomid? Even if you don't make an egg? I start clomid soon as well im currently waiting for AF. My cycles range from 38 to 46 days. Im on day 38 now with no signs of AF. basically when most women have 12 months or 12 chances to conceive we only get 6 to 8 and in ur case even less. I hope clomid regulates cycles otherwise its gonna be a long go at this! Maragayle thanks for all the advice. I appreciate all that you girls write. I feel pretty alone in my life about this as i know only 1 other person with this awful condition (PCOS). Keep me posted.

Hi hun!

I'm not 100% sure but i dont think that it does......i think you just take it like you have a normal cycle.....if you have fb hun you can add me lol just look for Ann Young from Ohio......shoot me a message if you add me that way i'll know lol I hope that we all get that BFP no matter how long it takes lol as long as we all get one!

ahsportygurl21.......i hope that you and i can get the chance to chat some more as i know NO ONE who has this and since we are in the same position (waiting on AF) I think that we could have alot to talk about as we start this thing!!! lol

Maragayle thank you soooo much for your advice....it means alot that you would take the time out to talk to me about it!!

hope to hear from you all soon!!!

Yes and no to the regulating of your cycle. If you ovulate, you will get AF approximately 14 days after ovulation. If you don't ovulate, she probably won't show. On the rounds where I've successfully ovulated, she's come on her own. If I don't ovulate, my doctor makes me wait until CD35, test for pregnancy just in case, then start provera to bring on AF. That way we're not waiting an excruciatingly long time between beginning a new cycle! I would definitely ask your doctor about what the plan is if AF doesn't show and you get a BFN.

For those of you with PCOS, I've recently joined another online forum, http://thebrokenovary.com/, which is specifically for people who have PCOS. There are boards relating to every aspect of the disease, including TTC. It's a bit more specific to what we're going though. The ladies over there are equally as nice.
