Hello Ladies It's been a while since I been on . Not sur why but I'm back.. Let me tell you all what's been going on and see if anyone has any feedback for me. Ii just completed my 5th cycle of clomid at 50mg. I have asked the doctor to keep me at 50mg since I have been O every month since I was put on about 2 follicles per month. Husband and I want a baby but don't want to overdue it by causing damage to myself or babies...( hope u guys can understand).... So this months cycle like the last 4 I took my clomid day 5- 10 of my cycle. Plus we went ahead and got the hubby tested one more time to make sure ( last test was about a year ago) .... He came out great no issues there. I went in to see my doctor at mid cycle to check how the ovaries were performing... They did their job and gave me 4 follicles 1 dominant. I decided not to have the HCG shot this time since I got one the last 4 months. So May 6 I tested and the smiley face appeared ... I had the big O... I also tested on the 7th and 8th and all three days we had smiley faces... Is that normal? Has anyone else experienced 3 days of O? Will we did the deeded when it was necessary so I hope to know within a week or so... During my doctor visit this pass week the doctor decided this would be the last month before we move on to the next step... So here is where I have a few question?

Has anyone tried sperm wash and IUI? If so Does it hurt? What was ur experience? Any side effects? Needed time off? I hope the for the best this month but I know I need to prepare if we have the same outcome of the last 4 months.

Any advice or feedback would be great.. Thanks Amy
Amy

Hi Amy,

Welcome back!

I have had the sperm wash with IUI done. Every women is different with the IUI. I had 3 IUIs and I did 200mg clomid, with HCG shot, I had extreme cramping with round 1 & 2 and the IUI was painful. (#2 was worse then #1). The third one was a lot different. It didn't hurt as bad and did not have any cramping afterwards (or minimal cramping). I took the day off with the 3 I had and was glad I did that. However, there are women on here who have had the IUI and went back to work and had minmal to no cramping.

Good luck! Let us know how everything turns out!

Best of luck! They're definitely doing the right thing by taking you off of the Clomid and trying something new. Have they mentioned anything about Femara? Clomid can cause excess and hostile cervical mucus which can attack your husband's sperm. (Kind of works a bit like a spermicide.) That could be one reason why you're ovulating but not getting pregnant. Femara is different. It targets only your ovaries and doesn't change the consistency or amount of CM. Some women who have been unsuccessful on Clomid get pregnant on Femara. It may be worth a shot for you. You take it the same way you do Clomid, get monitored the same way, etc.

My RE switched me this cycle. Jury's still out as to whether or not it worked, but I think I did O...though it may have been late in my cycle. I'll let everyone know if it ends up being my miracle drug!

I've never had an IUI, so I can't help you there. I know the HSG hurt like a son of a..... and I've heard them compared. IUIs are our next step if the Femara doesn't work. Followed by IVF.

Good luck to you and welcome back!

Clomid wasn't the right drug for my body. That's what the RE said at our first appointment with him. We did an all out attack of femara, gonal-f, and a trigger shot. He was right. Our second appointment was our first ultrasound. I'm with Maragayle. I didn't have IUI's but the HSG was awful. Good luck! I hope you find the right answer for your body.

Hey Mara,

I just wanted to let you know I sent you a friend request on Facebook. Stephanie Attema should come up.

I also was wondering if you heard anything about your job interview.

Hope everything is going good!

Oh, man! I just ignored it. Haha. I was like, "who the heck is this person!" I found you, though, and we're now friends.

Nothing about the job yet! I asked them a week or so ago. They said they had a key person out of the office unexpectedly and were really behind. Hopefully I'll hear soon. In the meantime, I'm applying like crazy to anything and everything I can!

Thank you! Finding a new job seems to be just as hard as conceiving this darn baby! I keep telling my husband we're more likely to win the Powerball. Perhaps I should start playing. At least then we wouldn't have to worry about paying for IVF.

LOL! I agree! I should start playing too, it would make IVF a lot cheaper (or at least seem that way!)!

HI,
I have done the clomid, wash and IUI twice now and both times I went to work afterwards. While it's uncomfortable and it does hurt, my pain went away quickly. Since the clomid can cause the excess and hostile cervical mucus I thought it would be better to go with the IUI along with the baby dancing to better our chances. I go Friday for my progestrone blood test. . . crossing my fingers. Best of luck to you!

maragayle replied to ATT76's response:
Soooooooo, Tuesday's test was a BFN. My doctor called last night and said my test came back negative for ovulation, but my numbers were much better than the last round on Clomid. My last round of Clomid my number was .3, this time around it was 1.7. You need to get to 2 to ovulate. I told her I think I did ovulate this cycle and last cycle (I can feel it happening), but I think it was late. I asked if that would throw off the numbers, and she said it would and that it was possible that I may have ovulated late. Last cycle I got AF on my own, but 5 days late...so CD21 BW should have been on CD26. Today is CD 30, so the CD21 BW should have been on CD23 to be accurate. I have some spotting this morning. UGH! So, this is probably CD1 with more femara. If I consistently ovulate, I'm going to try this for up to 6 months before adding a trigger shot and/or IUI.

I bought a new book yesterday called "A Few Good Eggs." So far, I really like it. It's an informational book about infertility written by two women who have experienced it first hand. They share their stories, stories of friends and combine professional advice, descriptions, etc. It also outlines some coping mechanisms. I'll let you know what I think when I finish it. I was just getting to the point where I needed something else to try to understand what I'm going through.

Sorry to hear about the numbers! I know how frustrated you are about Oing late and not having the numbers be accurate! Would it be possible to go a few days late for b/w since your cycles are long and you are Oing late?

Let me know if the book is worth purchasing. I would be interested. I think it would be good to read something that could give some real information!

I don't know about testing the progesterone later or not. I think I'd need to call the actual RE to change that. The OBGYN was the one who called with my results, so I didn't really ask too many questions. She's doing my monitoring so I don't have to drive all the time. I'm hoping we can try something new if this cycle's a bust. I'm just getting really anxious.

For me, I had always O'd later (cd16-cd20) and since I did OPK's I would know and then test progesterone 7dpo (no matter what actual cd it was but typically being cd24-cd28). So if you do O late, your progesterone level at cd21 would not give you accurate results. Maybe be something to think about if you need another cycle. Or do cd21 and cd25 to make sure....

maragayle replied to blueeyebaby's response:
It's been different each time, unfortunately...and the OPKs aren't reliable with PCOS, so that doesn't help. I have a pretty good grasp of when it's happening. As long as it IS happening, I don't really care what the numbers say.
