I've been going to my regular obgyn for the past two years of ths journey and think it might be time to go to a specialist. But was wondering..does it cost more? I am sure it does. Also, did your doctor refer you to one or did you just find them yourself?

I had to have a referral for my insurance to cover it. Even though we have infertility insurance, it has to be pre-approved. My ob/gyn had to send a form to my insurance. (Doesn't seem difficult but I had to hunt them down for it!) I would assume an RE does cost more, but I'm not really sure either. The type of insurance we have we only have to pay the copays with the RE. HTH
Me-24 DH-37 TTC 1st for 13 months. 3 rounds of Clomid all BFN's. Taking a break until appointment with RE on June 5th.

Same here. I had my OBGYN refer me. She and my primary care physician had to put in a referral. After that I only had to pay my $35 copay, which I had to pay to the OB's office anyway. The RE's office should be able to give you a cost quote if you call before your appointment. They often submit your paperwork to the insurance company ahead of time because they ask for the uncovered portion up front. Good luck!
Me 23, DH 24, TTC 22 months,8 rounds Clomid,round one 7.5mg Femara this cycle, BW 5/8, test 5/15

Yes, it does cost more, but you must weigh those costs over getting a baby. The RE is going to be more aggressive since that is why they are a specialist. I was with my OB and he did everything he could do and then referred me to an RE. When I went to the RE appointment they took my insurance info and called my insurance to see what would and wouldn't be covered. Infertility issues are not covered under my insurance, which sucks, but we have worked hard to afford ttc!

I would suggest since you have been trying for 2 years to ask for a referral to an RE. I know you are only 25, but if you aren't happy with how things are going you have the option of asking for the referral. Good luck, hope this helped!

Thank you all very much for your input. It's helped me a lot. Today is day 29 and even though my progestrone was a 16.37 I don't feel any symptoms just kinda feel like AF is about to rear her ugly head into my life again. Such a let down. Try again, tray again!! )

Oh no, she came this morning. Whatever. My doc said 5 more tries with Clomid as long as it keeps making me ovulate and after than meet up & discuss referring me to a RE. I am just SO ready to be a mom. I can't help but wonder why God is making me wait. Must be a reason. There always is. Someday I will find out.

Mrs62610 replied to lindseymk's response:
I'm sorry she showed up. I have wondered the same thing, why is God making me wait? I figure he must know something I don't about my future and he has a better plan than I could ever come up with. As impatient as I am I have come to the realization that there has to be a good reason why it is taking so long. Since we don't seem to have control, all we can do is pray to God who has all control!
