My nephew's sick. He has hand, foot & mouth...apparently very common for little kids to get. So, to the doctors office we went. By the time I got out I had a voicemail from the same nurse saying the doc wanted to talk to me about my treatment schedule before calling in the meds. "She'll call you at some point today." By 12:30, 1:00 I'm getting nervous. Still nothing from the OB's office. I use a local pharmacy now, and they close at 6:00.
Call me crazy, but I went behind the OB's back and called my RE's office. I left a message for the nursing assistant to my RE, she called back within an hour or so. I had her fax in the prescription. My OBGYN's office didn't call until 4:30!!!!!! I was at my annual eye exam, so I missed the call and returned it at 4:50. They close at 5, and there was a message up saying the office had closed for the day. Are you kidding me?!
1.) I told you this was TIME SENSITIVE! 2.) I'm seeing my OB for monitoring and prescribing drugs, they don't need to ask questions 3.) I went over the treatment plan with the OBGYN LAST CYCLE! It hasn't changed! 4.) It's none of your damn business what my treatment plan is. Prescribe me my time sensitive drugs and we can talk later. 5.) Why refer me to a specialist if you're not going to listen to what the specialist has to say?! Keep your nose out of it.
I was SO mad and annoyed! The idea behind the OB's office prescribing drugs is that the insurance company is more likely to approve some of them if it's coming from them rather than an infertility specialist. Well, from now on I'm showing up for BW at the OB's office and getting meds called in by my specialist. At least they understand when you say you need something TODAY! Ugh!
I think the problem is that the OBGYN's office just doesn't thoroughly understand how important it is to have the medication right when you need it. They're pretty slow in calling me with results, too. The RE's office usually calls me within the hour, and definitely by the end of the day. In their voicemail message they even say, "your call will be answered before close of business, unless placed after 4PM where your call may be answered the following day." That, to me, is reasonable. They just have a greater understanding of what we're going through.
Good luck on your Femara cycle.
Talked to the Doc yesterday (finally) at my OB's office. She started arguing with me about whether or not I needed the refill. "Between the Clomid and Femara you've been on it six months. You don't need to do it anymore."
Finally I said, "look. I called Boston IVF, confirmed my plan with them and they called in the meds for me already. I needed this YESTERDAY! They confirmed that I'm to go ahead and try three more months of Femara."
Long award pause, followed by "oh....they called it in? Okay, well, good luck then."
Oh brother....
Good luck on this round of Femara, i hope you won't have to go through this anymore.
