I'm hoping that some pro-cloth diaperers will join this group! I am pregnant and due to have my first baby any day now. I want to try to use cloth diapers with her and am still trying to learn all the ins and outs of them. I feel like a pro with disposables because I worked in childcare for years.
I have some questions for those of you who have been doing this for a little while:
1. What your favorite type of diaper covers/ all-in-ones are and why.
2. Where have you found is the best place to order from
3. Do you prefer prefolds and covers or all-in-ones and why.
4. Any other tips you've discovered?

I'm a basic girl. Love prefolds with a Thristies cover. I love the simplicity of it. No stuffing. No long drying times. Quick and convenient. Most times I use a Snappi with them.
2. Where have you found is the best place to order from. I usually order from Nicki's Diapers.
3. Do you prefer prefolds and covers or all-in-ones and why.
See my answer for #1. I also have some Bum Genius 3.0s but I'm not a fan of them. First of all, I hate stuffing them. And second, the microfiber insert is notirious for having stink issues.
4. Any other tips you've discovered? There is SO much information out there about CDing. It can be very overwhelming. Just take a leap and jump in blindly. But don't commit yourself too quickly. Start off with a variety of things before you figure out what you like best.
You said you use a snappi--are those the plastic things you can use instead of safety pins to hold the cloth prefold together?
I do have a few safety pins, but I need to look into buying some snappis. I wish they would make them easier to get your hands on! I hope Target or Walmart will start to sell more cloth diaper supplies in-store soon! I hate having to pay shipping to get everything sent to me from online.
Nicki's diapers usually has free shipping on orders over $75.
I love PF's. Very basic and cheap. I have them from www.little-lions.com These are my favorites. You can buy 2nd for cheap and I have no idea why they are cheap. I prefer unbleached indians. I don't like white diapers! I also use a snappi instead of pins.
My favorite covers are Thirsties. Wonderful and great price!
I don't care for all-in-ones unless you can remove the soaker or insert. But then that really makes it an all-in-two or pocket! True all-in-ones where the soaker is sewn in take FOREVER and a DAY to dry. No joke. Plus most have micofiber inside and this can get stinky. I've not had issues (I use microfiber i my pockets) but ALOT of people have big issues with MF.
My favorite pockets are Thirsties Duo Diapers (love them!) and Fuzzi Bunz One Size. You will find that every diaper fits each kid differently so what fits my DD perfectly might not work for your LO.
One Size dipes are great but most ppl will say they don't really fit until 3-4 mo old.
I wash my CD's every 3 days in Tide original powder. I do a presoak in cold water to get the leftover poo and urine out. Then a hot wash with 1/4 c tide and then a cold wash cyce with no detergent to make sure it has all rinsed out.
2) I bought them off another mommy on Craigslist and bought 20 AIO 15 Toddler size diapers and 10 training pants for potty training. Including fleece liners, inserts (I use them even though they're not pockets. Just for more absorbancy) and 100 double stiched fleece wipes for $100! You can check out their own website at www.motherease.com
3) I use AIO's with a Mother ease Airflow cover. Their airflows are amazing. They let air in and protect any moisture from getting out. I didn't want to use snaps for do any folding. I work F/T and wanted something more convenient. I line dry my diapers to expand the life iont eh diaper and save on my energy bill. So, I highly suggest if you get an AIO get enough in your rotation to allow dry time (they take longer on the line since thheir thinker).
4) My tip is if you decide to CD get a toilet sprayer! I found a DIY online and my husband built me one for $12. It will make your life sooooooo much easier.
