Cloth diapering a newborn?

SunConure posted:
Ok, I want to start our little girl right away in cloth diapers, but I am having a hard time finding ones that work with the umbilical cord. G-Diapers makes the Tiny G's that work with them, but I don't want to buy those, because they come in a kit they sell which is 150 bucks, and the other pieces in the kit I already have so it would be a waste. So I was thinking of just doing prefolds with Bummis covers, do the newborn covers allow for space for the cord? I am looking at them on Green Mountain Diapers, but I can't tell by the pics if the cord has plenty of space or not.

hmm, I am not sure about your question, but I have an idea! The local organic baby store by me sells used cloth supplies. Maybe there is a store near you that you can get a few used for the umbilical cord? Or you can check places like ebay. Good luck!

How would I go about trying to find a place like that near me? I have looked and can't seem to find anything! I have been on Ebay.

I'm thinking of using rumparooz all in one newborns, they have spots that snap down for the cord, also Goodmama's have the same design. I know I have seen a few others but that is all I think of at the moment. FYI I'm also going to invest in some flushable liners for those oh so lovely meconium diapers the first few days.http://www.rumparooz.com/catalog.php?category=96

If you are really into prefolds and covers I have heard it's easy to fold the prefold and avoid the stump and here is a wrap that comes with a umbilical notch cut out.
