gdiapers/biodegradable liners

When looking into cloth/gdiapers a couple years ago I read that you can put the biodegradable liners in the compost pile. I haven't checked out the diaper site lately so I don't know if you can still do this. But I know I wouldn't want to flush them because of our old plumbing. I also wouldn't want to just throw them away either. One reason I haven't ever used them. If I remember you could only do pee or poo. Can't remember. But has anyone ever put the liners in a compost pile/bin?

I haven't done it yet, but it's only the pee ones you can compost from what the site says. Even if you have to throw the insert away they break down in 50-150 days, much less time then it takes for disposable which is like a crazy 500 years!

Thanks I was thinking it was the pee liners. I could always shake the poo from the pooed on liners and then throw them away. I am still not sure if I want to invest in gdiapers. Still thinking about it.

Those are the ones I have invested in so I hope they work out! All the moms I have talked to love them, except for nighttime, so for that we have 4 BumGenius 3.0's, because those get good reviews for nighttime when baby starts sleeping through the night!

I'm sure it's a great product. The only reason I am hesistant is because I already have a decent stash. I would mainly want them for running around. But I also have BumGenius 3.0 diapers and they are fairly easy for when you're out and about. I am also thinking of buying some nice AIO Bum Genius. The type that are sized. I like the idea of the all in one and not dealing with covers. If I got those then I wouldn't need the Gdiapers. We will see. I would wait until after Christmas (and they get Christmas cash from relatives) before buying those.

I just really like how you can add the liners of Gdiapers break down so fast. Especially since I am thinking of buying a compost bin soon.

I totally understand what you mean, if you already have a good stash, what's the point in buying more, especially since cloth diapers are not cheap! I really wanted to do BumGenius diapers, but they are so expensive and hard to find compared to the G's so that's why I went with them, but I love them already so hopfully they will work out!
