Extra long cold rinse with a cup of vinegar.

Extra long hot wash with 1 tbs of Crunchy Clean Detergent.

1 hot rinse and 1 cold rinse.

Covers get hung up to dry and the rest go in the dryer on medium heat. I can't wait for the warmer weather so I can hang everything to dry outside!!!

I do wash every 3 or 4 days.

Since figuring this wash routine out, I rarely have to strip my diapers. Oh, and I always spray my microfiber inserts with bleach before I stick them in the bucket of dirties.

Good post since there are a zillion ways to wash! Here is our routine. We have a regular old top loader washer

cold presoak with a good squirt of bac-out

hot wash with 1/4 cup of Tide powder (original)

cold wash w/no detergent to get it all rinsed

Inserts, PF's and fitteds go into the dryer. Covers and pocket covers hang to dry. I wash every 3 days. No more than 24 diapers to a load

My washing machine is older and is just a basic top loader. So I can't do anything too fancy with my rinses. I do one cold rinse, then add some melaluca all natural soap and a cap full of melaluca odor eliminator/stain remover (all natural as well), then an eight minute wash on heavy and then a double rinse in cold water. I always line dry my diapers sometimes if I need them and their damp I'll put them in the dryer on fluff until their dry. All my covers get washed seperatly and are also line dried.

Hang dry the covers and dry the inserts on Medium heat.

Jamie what kind of vinegar do you use? What is this supposed to help with?

Roni --- I use distilled white vinegar. The longer dirty diapers sit out, the more ammonia builds. Most soaps work better in a neutral environment and vinegar helps bring it down to a neutral environment. My MF inserts had an ammonia issue which is why I spray them before putting them in the bucket. Since adding the vinegar to my routine, I haven't had any stink issues.

Just a side note to this....Vinegar can actually cause stink issues too if you have hard water. And it's not good for diaper covers because it can be hard on the waterproof fabric. I usually don't include my covers in the rinse cycle unless they have some poop on them.

Diapers: Cold rinse. Hot wash with Free & Clear detergent (Tide, Purex, or All). Cold rinse with about a half cup of vinegar. Warm dry.

Covers: Washed separately as the diapers (except with BG since they are AIO) and laid on dryer to dry. I only have a few. I usually just wash them with towels or kids clothes as long as no poo is on the cover.

I usually wash every couple days when used religiously. I have been very inconsistant since becoming pregnant and have relied a lot of disposables. Now DD1 is potty trained so DD2 is the only one in diapers. I can probably go close to a week or until the diaper pail is full.
