GDiapers

Anyone on here ever used GDiapers? If so, have you ever used them with prefolds? I ordered one from Target to see what it was like and I'm not quite sure that I like it! Like I said, I was planning on using it with prefolds, but I'm wondering if it will work very well that way. My baby isn't born yet--due any day, so I thought I'd ask before I actually try to use it and can't return it. The inner plastic liner seems so small!

We have 7 gDiapers in our stash, to be honest they are not our favorite. The liners do seem small, but they stretch to accomodate anything of reasonable size. We use gCloth in ours and they fit pretty well, I have never tried prefolds in them but I know a lot of people use them I'm sure they would work just fine maybe even better.

Let me tell you why I don't like them, the liners stain, call me neurotic but it bugs me. The elastic in the liners wears out really fast and ruins the fit completely. You can replace the liners but I'm just not one to be replacing and rotating constantly.

I'm using gDiapers for my son, and we love them! IMO, they're the perfect hybrid between sposies and cloth. You can go all-cloth with them, like you said, with cloth inserts instead of the flushables they sell. We use them exclusively with the flushies, and they work great for us.

Ninis1656, the liners do stain somewhat easily, but it is very simple to remove the stains. Hang them in the sun while slightly damp, and the sun will bleach the stains right out. You don't even have to put them outside, even a windowsill with sunlight coming in will work just fine. I find it very easy to do. Also, they last much longer for me if I wash them in a mesh lingerie bag. I bought a couple at my local Target for about $3 each. Also, the gDiapers yahoo group is an amazing resource for G users. They can help you with just about any problem you'll encounter with gDiapers. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gDiapers/

I hope this helps!

I used them when DD was just born. And honestly they were a mess for us. The liners would scrunch up and the poo would get into the waterproof casing. I was constantly washing them since babes that young poo all the time. The flushable part never worked for us either. After flushing for a while our toilet clogged and it cost a pretty penny for a plumber to come out and snake the toilet one Saturday. So we tried the Gcloth and they were too thin and didn't hold any pee. After being so frustrated with them we made the switch to all cloth and haven't looked back.

Were doing the G's for our LO when she comes and all the moms I have talked to say the poo is supposed to get on the liners and will almost everytime, that's why it's a good idea to have a lot of those in stock when there young. There are ways around the scrunching as well, fasten one side of the diaper first and then reach in and reposition the liner and cloth if needed. I have heard some people like the g-cloth and some don't so we have both g-cloth and prefolds for inserts, hopefully one of them will work. For the flushies I just plan to throw those away, they break down in 50-150 days anyway, we live in an apartment and I think if I clog the toilet up that bad they might kill me!! I hope I can make them work by using these tips, because I have invested tons of money in only this system!!

I got the GDiapers for my son and use them exclusively, except at night. We use 1-2 disposables at night due to the amount urine and he seems to sleep more comfortably at night in disposables. As for using prefolds in them, yes you can, but wouldn't try until you get to the med/lg sizes of diapers. I rarely use the flushable inserts, as I find that the cloth will work very well if he is changed regularly 2-3 hours. I use the prefolds in the G's about half the time. I have more than a dozen of the small g-cloth inserts and found a prefold cut down will extend the use of these in the med/lg diapers.
