First you would have to decide what kind of diaper you want to try prefolds, pockets or all in ones. Then I would recommend purchasing a couple different brands. Each diaper will fit your baby differently. This will allow you to see what works the best.

Here are a couple of really good websites, http://www.diaperswappers.com/ and http://www.diaperpin.com/home.asp.

Alot of daycares don't except CD but you should ask when your interviewing them.

Hi! Congrats on your pgcy. That is awesome you are thinking about CD'ing. I didn't start CDing until my 2nd was 5 mo old. She is now 21 mo old and I still love it. For a newborn I would recommend prefolds. You go through a ton of diapers those first couple of months and prefolds are inexpensive. Folds are easy to learn. My prefolds are from www.little-lions.com and I love them. I have unbleached indian's. I got the 2nd's which are cheaper and I have no idea why they are 2nd's. www.greenmountaindiapers.com are also supposed to be awesome prefolds. THe nice thing is that you have plenty of time to build your stash before your LO comes. I love thirsties covers but motherease gets rave reviews too.

There are tons of great brands out there. The key is finding the right one for you. They will each fit your LO a bit differently. I like pocket diapers and I love the fuzzi bunz one size but my favorite pocket diaper is the thirsties duo diaper. If you look through on of the threads on here (I think it's the one about covers) I posted a couple of pics of my DD in a thirsties duo diaper. They are by far my favorite. They are getting ready to offer a snaps version too. Some people do not like velcro. The duos come in 2 sizes. Size 1 goes up to 18 lbs and size 2 goes from 18 lbs to potty training.

There are also flips (www.cottonbabies.com ) which you can tri-fold a PF and lay in. I've not tried these but alot of mama's on diaperpin.com and diaperswappers.com love them.

My DD is in daycare FT and her daycare is perfectly fine with CD's. I would suggest keeping it as simple as possible for daycare though. I would either do pockets or AIO's (I don't like AIO"s because they tend to take a long time to dry because the soaker is sewn in.). These are closest to a disposable and will be easier for daycare. I just send diapers, cloth wipes (pre-moistened) and a wetbag for her to put the dirty diapers in. Then I take them home each night. I wash CD's every 3 days. If you BF your baby you dont' even need to rinse the poop until after they start eating foods. You can just fold and wash. Very easy!

Look through the other threads and ask any questions that you have!

I have 10 daycares on my list to visit and called all of them today and only 2 said no to cloth diapers! I was shocked, I was ready to hear from all of them that no we won't do those, but was very happy to hear most will take them, I think I got lucky!

Well I don't have a ton of experience since I just started CD with my first, who is one month old. I have the unbleached Indian prefolds as well, and I think they are awesome. They are super easy to wash (I wash mine every 2 days - I would do it less often but I only have 6 covers and also want to keep the stink down). Lots of people are intimidated by prefolds, but the folds are really easy - just Google "folding prefold cloth diapers" or something like that and you'll find all kinds of sites that show you how. I also watched some YouTube videos of people doing the folds to make sure I was doing them right.

As far as covers, I use the Bummis covers and I have been really impressed so far. I've also heard really good things about the Thirsties covers, though.

I also have a couple of BumGenius 3.0 but I haven't used them yet. They are supposed to fit from 8-20somthing pounds (they snap up and down to different sizes), but I have found that the baby needs to be a little bigger before these will fit properly. I have a friend who uses them (and loves them) and she couldn't fit her baby in them until she was around 10lb. The upside of these is that they are super easy - it feels just like putting on a disposable.

But overall, I recommend prefolds at least for starting out because they are really very simple and very inexpensive compared to the pocket and all in one diapers out there.

I agree on you my friend. In my case, When I told my husband I wanted to use cloth diapers he looked at me like I had 6 eyes. He felt a little better once I bought one diaper and showed him how they worked. After a year of cloth diapering he has accepted them as well as can be expected. I have to keep reminding him how much money we've saved this year and that usually brings a smile back to his face. [br>[br>When we were interviewing caregivers we had a few diapers available with us and explained how they worked. Here is a sample of the conversation with them: "We use modern cloth diapers like this on our baby, are your familiar with them? Let me show you how similar they are to disposable diapers." [br>[br>Don't get frustrated, stay positive and try not to get defensive. People just want their concerns to be heard before they make the commitment with you. [br>[br>Want additional support? The Real Diaper Association has several pamphlets developed that you can use when introducing cloth diapers to your friends, family and caregivers.
