ETD alternatives to cure it?

I have been told by my ENT that I have ETD (in my right ear). I was given Prednisone for a week to open up the eustachian tube, and it did not work. I also simultaneously have tried prescription nasal sprays, decongestants, etc. Nothing has worked:( It has been nearly 2 years of having a blocked right ear & I am a singer so this is unbelievably frustrating to not hear properly. I do not want to let my doctor put a tube into my ear drum, and am wondering if there are ANY other ways to resolve my blocked eustachian tube? Is intratympanic dexamethasone injection ever done for ETD? Help!!!

Why are you concerned about the tubes? It is a safe and easy procedure, and should fix your chronic ETD, especially if you have tried everything else. No, I have no heard of anyone using dexamthasone injection for ETD.

Have you checked out the device called an EarPopper? You may need a doctor's prescription, but it can work....assuming you do not have a complete closure of the E-tubes due some anatomical anomaly. You can find a lot of information on the Internet for this $100 or so device.

I see that you put this up three years ago. Has your ETD gotten better? Did you try the popper? I use a neti pot and that seems to help a little. Let me know please as I suffer from the same issues.
